Marin Čilić will be playing in his first Wimbledon Final Sunday. The man from Medjugorje defeated American Sam Querrey 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-5 Friday afternoon to book a spot in the Final on Sunday. After losing the first set in a tiebreaker, Čilić regained his composure in a very tight, power tennis match to win the next three sets. Čilić was the 2014 US Open champion and he will now have a chance to win the illustrious Wimbledon title. He will play one of the greatest to step foot on the court: Mr. Roger Federer.

Čilić is the first Croatian man to make the Wimbledon Final since Goran Ivanišević won the whole thing as a wild card in 2001.

    Stressful to watch this tennis
Now this problem in the crowd
    Gotta win this first set

  2. Dannyj says:

Wow both guys with some chokes but for sure cilic could have had the first set
    Lots of tennis left though

  3. Dannyj says:

    Yes a break
While this is close cilic should be up even more right now
He for sure has been challenging the Yankees serve more then vice Versa thus far

  4. Dannyj says:

Yes a break. Cilic keeps plugging away
Ya I can see where ziva got that choking nick name
But maybe when he was younger and didn’t have that mental toughness
He is playing strong but man even if he gets through Federer looks lights out

  5. Dannyj says:

Beauty!!! Stressful but enjoyable to watch
Federer almost for sure gonna be the other finalist
Cilic will have to play lights out to win Sunday but he is sure playing well
Man 2 croats winning veembeldon would be pretty freaking amazing

  6. The truth says:

Well it’s official..cilic is now the greatest tennis player in Croatian history…. Doesn’t say a great deal though i guess

I ran my montecarlo simulation for cilic federer and unfortunately it only gives him a 15% chance of winning. And gives him a 30% chance of being beat in straight sets

  7. The truth says:

    In terms of bozo simunovic.

    1) iF he didn’t want to play for Croatia he doesn’t have to
    2) would be negative for Croatia to lose him. Not because he’ll be good. Seems like another overhyped youth (remember jelavic dominating the spl?)… But because if there is a one percent chance he’s good, he’s worth something. When i run my monrecarlo simulation for the likelihood future national rosters will be filled with quality players, an extremely important input is the size of the pool of eligible players

  8. Dr York says:

When we bumped into each other in Babin Kuk, I didn’t expect a Croatian in the final at Wimbledon! Great news and I bet you’re really chuffed Ante! Idi Hrvatskoj!

  9. Dr York says:

Shame that. The sentiment was genuine. Still would like to see Marin win. Yours, Truth troll….whatever that means in English!

  10. Ante Kvartuč Ante Kvartuč says:

    Hello again Dr. York,

I definitely did not see Cilic making the final with all the firepower in the draw around him. We shall see what happens on Sunday. Fed is playing some great tennis right now.

Pleasure talking to you in Dubrovnik. Hope you enjoyed the coast. Let’s talk some more tennis this weekend.

  11. Iggy Iggy says:

Terrific stuff from Marin. Will be hard to beat Fed (hasnt even lost a set) but u never know; he did smoke him in US Open 2014 so let’s hope for a similar outcome

  12. Iggy Iggy says:

On this: “Well it’s official..cilic is now the greatest tennis player in Croatian history…. Doesn’t say a great deal though i guess”

What makes you say this? Goran made 4 wimbledon finals and won one, i’d still say he’s by far the best – he was also nbr 2 in the world at one time and generally more of a chance to win grand slams so i’d definitely put him above Marin – at least until Marin wins the final on Sunday ;)

  13. Poglavnik says:

    Goran is still the best.
Even if Marin wins I put Goran at #1.
Particularly when it comes to pure talent.
Still has the record for most aces in a year!

  14. Poglavnik says:

Shows you how old The Truth is if he doesn’t know Goran’s legacy. Maybe his Ivy League educated kid can teach him a thing or two.

  15. Zee says:

Truth troll get lost. You jealous bastard you just wish you could pick up the chicks he did and probably still does. Go away chump!

  16. The truth says:

I’m actually going to retract my statement and still give goran the slight edge. I reran my model and included team competitions where goran Davis cup victory gives the slight edge over cilic finals loss. The main reason the model likes cilic so much is it weights results based on the quality of the era. With djokovic, nadal, federer, and murray running around in this era, just being a top 10 player is like being top 5 in gorans time.

  17. Dannyj says:

Marin still got some time to do more damage
If he wins tomorrow he will get over last years dissapoinment And has killed those demons
I feel physically he is good enough to win again it was always the mental side for him

  18. Dannyj says:

The men’s doubles final got Croat in it
Had no idea there semi finals had 3 croats in it
Still want to hate on us? Keep on trucking little Croatia keep on trucking

  19. Poglavnik says:

I think Cilic’s best strategy would be to drive Federer nuts by continuing to bounce the ball 47 times before every serve.

  20. Slavonac from Canada says:

    Kvartuc…this comment is wrong:

“Čilić is the first man to make the Wimbledon Final since Goran Ivanišević won the whole thing as a wild card in 2002.”

Cilic is the first “Croatian” since Ivanisevic.

  21. Anonymous says:

How much will truth troll shit on croatian athletetes if Čilić loses, how much if he wins? Only his x-box simulations and “Ivy league” son can know.
