Will Perišić Make Man United Move?

August 10, 2017

We’ve known all summer long that Jose Mourinho and Manchester United have wanted the services of 28 year-old Croatian winger Ivan Perišić. And usually when an elite European club calls, the phone gets answered.

The rumors started late May with the official opening of the summer transfer window opening on July 1st. It would be a match made in heaven. United need an experienced winger to join the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba in attack. Manchester United and Inter Milan have danced around a £48 million asking price for Perišić, the Independent has reported.

The English Premiership season starts this weekend but the summer transfer window has another three solid weeks until close. There’s more than enough time for the clubs to negotiate transfer talk with today’s “modern football” being dominated by the club with the deepest pockets.

Just like all transfer windows, the seller can always wait until the 11th hour to reap the benefits of a last second (and much higher) price tag. Inter Milan is stating that Perišić is no longer for sale, which in turn, only ups his value.

It would be great to see Perišić at United back in the Champions League.

Should he help push the deal or stay put in Serie A at Inter Milan?

Originally they were going to over pay then they switched to bale and it cooled down
If they come back they’ll extremely overpay considering the market

  2. Sude Mi says:

If Neymar represents the current high-water point in the market I would argue 48-50M is not over-paying for Perisic!

  3. idemo says:

the market is fucked Neymar isn’t worth no where near that

they’ve already made an offer in the range of 48 and inter said no
inter know Man U missed out on bale and that Man U need a winger transfer window closing up in 2 weeks 60-70 million should do it

the market is fucked and over inflated

Coutinho is a 50-60 million player and 100 is being thrown around for him

  4. Poglavnik says:

    Coutinho is not a 50-60 million € player in 2017 “AN”(after Neymar).
And Man U have shot themselves in the foot if they thought holding out on Perisic would work.

  5. Idemo says:

So how much is coutinho worth?
Realistically he is, with normal inflation etc. coutinho is clearly a 100 million player in 2017…..eye roll

Agreed they knew the price for him the whole time, tried using the situation as a smoke screen to pull bale now they will have to pay or rely on lingaard martial rashford on the left

  6. The truth says:

I rate perisic as an above average player capable of fighting for a starting spot on a big time team

He had arguably been Croatias best player over the past two years but seems to have tapered off a bit this cycle

Ultimately i fear perisic effectiveness is poised to decline rapidly in about two years time. Unlike most Croats, his game relies heavily on speed. Technically he is just ok. His best attribute is his two foot ability and his step over move to create space. Unfortunately he is a terrible passer and possession player…a true winger…. But once that speed is gone, the strengths become less usable and the weaknesses more glaring

  7. Poglavnik says:

I’d say he’s easily worth 100 in this day and age. He’s an excellent creative player with goals in his feet. You can build a team around a player like that. One of the best teams in the world. Be it Liverpool, Barca or any other iconic club.

  8. Poglavnik says:

Well Modric doesn’t score worldie’s and hes not Brazilian which always seems to make a players value greater.
And I do say easily. Just to remind you, Neymar was sold for 222 million friggin Euros!?!
You think for the next ten years when the Selecao get together guys like Gabi Jesus and Coutinho are gonna think they are that inferior to Neymar?
Biggest difference with Neymar is he’s cool and hip and stylish. He’s massive as far as popularity goes. I think for marketing purposes only Ronaldo and Messi are more popular. Paris wouldn’t commit that kind of money if they didn’t think it was a smart business decision.

  9. Poglavnik says:

Haven’t been on any transfer value websites recently but would be curious what people value star players at “post Neymar.”
Modric should be over 100 now.

  10. idemo says:

if your using Neymar’s over inflated price to judge Coutinho then what are me and you worth???

  11. The truth says:

Here’s a question for you based on all this… Is neymar worth twice as much as perisic

Or perhaps phrased a different way

Would you rather have neymar on the repka but he could only play half of any game or have perisic?

Let’s assume they are both Croatian to remove the cultural aspect to it

    I would take neymar

  12. Poglavnik says:

If a tree falls in the forrest?..
I think this really blows up people’s values and clubs are gonna get screwed.
Maybe it’ll be like China where they pay these astronomical fees and salaries to sign stars but have to fudge their books or do some shady shit to stay competitive. Makes things interesting to say the least.

  13. The truth says:

I ran the numbers through my model last night on perisic and it confirmed my thoughts. He’s projected at a peak right now and to decline heavily overt the next few years. The model shows players like rakitic and modric performing at a higher level than him in 3 years even though they will be older based on style of play

  14. Soul Champ says:

Perišić has iLLmatic technical ability and his explosive power will be there for 3-4 years at least.

Left foot, right foot are equal.

Modrić is the best CM in the world.

Perišić is an attack winger who can also score with his head.

He does need Modric skills in his position on the field.

BS here is Perišić “new” agent is not on the level to make this happen. You needed more clubs involved to put Man U to the fire and come in with a real bid in July before LA.

Liverpool and Barca would be blessed to have Perišić right now.

Inter have sucked over the last 5 years.

Man U, Barca, Liverpool are well coached and full of talent.

Perišić will have space to operate and thrive at a big club.

Plus Barca and Liverpool will both have big money to offer Inter.

Time for Hrvati to stop being second class citizens of the football world and take there rightful place at the table of elite club soccer.

This will set the stage of becoming an elite national side.

    Bog i Hrvati

  15. BZ says:

@Soul Champ- Perisic is an awesome player. Love him.
That said, if he is as good as I think he is, then he needs to bring Inter into the CL (assuming no transfer.)

I gave him a pass last year after the de Boer de Saster. This year he needs to lead Inter back to greatness. That would be more impressive to me than helping Barca or United make a deep run in the CL.

  16. Idemo says:

Liverpool? I think their wingers are spoken for and Klopp and Perisic aren’t the best of friends

Man U knew the price didn’t want to pay it tried using it as a smoke screen for bale (morata Lukaku anyone)

Eriksen being thrown around for 100 mil now as well

  17. Soul Champ says:

    @ BZ

Perišić is set for big time season.

EPL would give him the marketing platform to become a super star.

At 28 the window is closing on his prime.

    @ Idemo

Klopp knows Perišić is the goods

At Liverpool he does not need to favor German players like he did to the detriment of Perišić playing time.

    Continho sale gives Liverpool ££££

They will need attacking depth in the final third.

Basically Perišić is at the effect of Bale and Coutinho.

His agent is weak and represents Balkan bums.

Need a real dude to strong arm this move.

Šteta … the moves Perišić has made during the last 6 years.

He needs to be with a mega club competing in mega matches.

La Liga , EPL, CL !

  18. Soul Champ says:

    @ BZ

    Nice link !

    Vrsaljko was missed v Iceland.

    Pjaca as well.

I am in Glasgow, Scotland right now with a Celtic FC training program.

The U.K. is a footballing media megatron !

Perišić would be cataputled into stardom with immediate effect.

Was in Liverpool on the way up from London.

Minor spat aside, Perišić would thrive at KOP under Klopp.

    Countinho deal is imminent.

Inter Milan sold him for £10 mil to Liverpool now they will make £90 million on him!

    Can’t turn that down.

  19. BZ says:

@Soul Champ-awesome, you’ll have to share some of what you learned when you get back. But much like most Croatians, you will be teaching more than learning, I’m sure.
