After a disappointing loss to Iceland in June, Croatia will continue their World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign in September against Kosovo in Zagreb on the 2nd and in Eskisehir versus Turkey on the 5th. The usual suspects will make up the starting XI with no real omissions. Hajduk’s Zoran Nižić and Osijek’s Borna Barišić have been called up to back up the defense but with only four caps between them, seeing them in either game has a slim chance.
It should be an easy three points against Kosovo but Turkey can be trouble. In the opening match of qualifying, the Turks managed a 1-1 draw in Zagreb off a weird, deflected free kick just before halftime. With the group so tight, Croatia might need all six points in September. They still have to travel to Ukraine in October in what could be a group deciding match.
Who is your best XI from the call-ups? And will Croatia grab all six points in these two games?
F you and your immigrants truth.
Look there is no bigger domoljub then me.
100 percent Croatian
Born and raised there
Visit every year
Married Croatian
Brother fought in the homeland war and took part in the oluja
And as part of being the biggest Croatian, i realize for Croatia to prosper it must modernize and become progressive to tie itself to the West
That means give a gay player like lovren the captains arm band and champion that
Celebrate our girls celebrating the Serbian girls victory
Welcome immigrants
Some Croats are against it which i never understood. They don’t want Croatia to prosper by any means, yet they supported the ustase genocide to establish Croatia by any means. I suppose strengthening Croatia by welcoming gays crosses a moral line for them that the genocide of innocents does not
But aren’t most women in sports lesbians anyway. The WNBA is like all lesbian and the US soccer team is full of them. Are these role models for our girls?
@ The Truth
Women will never understand the thrill of victory. The Croatian nation needs to expand and reclaim her lands in Serbia and Bosnia.
meanwhile, on croatiansports.com, serb truth troll keeps trolling.
There was a really beautiful story out today about the u18 girls hoops teams for Croatia and Serbia. The Croatian girls cheered on the Serbian girls in the finals and greeted them with a chant when they returned to the hotel having won the title.
This is the type of progressivism that Croatia needs to show the world. The fact that it is being done by the youth is showing perhaps that the future is bright
Stop assuming he actually plays and had the balls to approach a female
Truth Troll with his 3rd grade name calling again
Did the Croat who ran over you in practice keep you from making the team? Did the female Croat who turned you down for the prom marry a successful Croat man that you couldn’t compete with?
Did “me first” kramaric barrel over his teammates again to take the pk?
Watched some of Caleta Car this summer…..decent option
Going to be honest, not a fan of Lovren. Beyond his mentality, I hate his game. People complain about his defense, but I really am frustrated with his passing capabilities (which is something I never worry about with Corluka.)
Lovren was to blame for it as well
Kramaric with a terrible PK
So you’re(Truth) a globalist(modern commie)? You hate nationalism. If you’re such a proud Croat state your real name. Any proud Croat would. I don’t think you will. But I do believe that the True nature about your hatred towards Croats is losing to one. You are not better than us.
Go away and eat a D truth troll.
I am the biggest domuljub there is and I realize the best way for Croatia to prosper is to step into the modern world
Giving the captains armband to a gay player like lovren and celebrating that would go a long way to showing the world that. It would lead to better relations with the West, trade deals etc
Lovern should be thrown of the team period. Sramota.
@soul Champ. Ya i hear ya. I know he is good. That line i posted was more out of frustration than being funny. Steta is right! Man i wish that was handled better on both sides as well. Not only is he good but a physical presence as well.
The Truth….hates Croats so much he looks for Croat websites to piss on. Truth has been hurt by a Croat woman who gave him the Truth about his manhood. Or a Croat man beat him to the punch in real life. I love it when a loser like you loses in life to a real man…a Croat. Now that’s the Truth.
I was thinking with luka being disgraced maybe it’s time for the captain Arm band to switch
With more and more news about dejan lovren being gay, i think this would be the perfect time to give him the captainship
Croatia needs to continue to turn toward the West, and having a gay captain would do wonders for the country’s image that it is becoming more progressive
@ Zee
I saw up close and personal as I am in Glasgow.
The kid is good.
Šteta.
That probably could’ve been handled better on all sides.
Now he is just another confused Croat who thinks Bosnia is something that exists outside of Croatia history.
What no simunovic again? Haha
@ BZ
Vrsaljko will be stronger than ever.
They have the best training on the planet in Madrid.
Sets up nicely for us as we need the Kosovo warm up to get ready for trip to Istanbul.
Čačić simply needs to play all of his subs early in the second half to give all the studs a run out.
We have squad full of top performers.
There is no reason we should ever lag in an area of the match.
Subbed off possibilites early in second half:
Rakitic
MANdzukic
Badelj
Brozovic
Subbed on possibilities:
Kalinic
Kramaric
Marko Rog
Pasalic
It is time we used our depth to maximum effect.
I like that we have to run the table to ensure 1st place.
I know Istanbul and Kiev will be a tough trip but if we truly are going to take the next step as a footballIng nation then we have to produce when it matters most.
Lovren will fuck this up for us.
Two 90 minute starts equals at least two critical gaffes from him. I expect Turkey to score on us because of him. We’ll need to score two against Turkey to win.
Vrclassiko is baack. Hope he returns to his former self. I expect he loses a step.
Still missing Pjaca & Corluka, but options look way better than they did for Iceland.
