Oh boy. After that Wimbledon Final disaster, Marin Čilić did it again Friday afternoon in New York.
After taking the 1st set from Argentine Diego Schwartzman, Čilić lost the next three sets 7-5, 7-5, 6-4 to end his Grand Slam year in the 3rd Round. Čilić’s service game was getting broken left and right and it looked like his mental state was once again tested. He has the easiest road to a Grand Slam he will ever have and blew it. The 2014 US Open champion will be disappointed in himself.
Borna Coric lost in straight sets to South African Kevin Anderson in the 3rd Round which eliminates all Croatians from the men’s single side. What looked like a promising tournament for Croatia quickly ended Friday in Flushing Meadows. Donna Vekić also lost in straight sets to Anastasija Sevastova ending the Croatian women’s run at the tournament.
Geez, Coric lost easily too so there goes our interest in the US Open 🙁
