Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ante Rebić scored an 89th minute game winner Saturday against Hannover to earn Niko Kovač’s side a 2-1 win and three points. With he game winding down, Rebić fired a one-bounce volley of the chest of Sebastian Haller from 26 yards out to beat the Hannover keeper inside the left post. Rebić is heating up for Frankfurt who are now only two points behind Hoffenheim early in the season for a Champions League spot.
Is it time to consider bringing Rebić back to the Croatian national side? The 24 year-old has one goal for the Vatreni in 10 appearances.
Rebić Goal
Danijel Subašić had a terrible day at the office Friday night as his Monaco team was on the road to take on a very good Lyon side. Subašić should have punched out a cross that lead to Mariano Diaz’s 11th minute goal but was half a second too slow as the ball flew threw the 6-yard box. Suba conceded again 12 minutes later but Monaco would equalize the game at 2-2 going into injury time where Lyon’s Nabil Fekir beat him on a 26-yard free kick to win the match 3-2.
Subašić has been sloppy as of late. Is it time to reconsider Croatia’s #1 goalie option?
Subašić concedes 3 goals including injury time free kick vs. Lyon
Perišić Assist
Ivan Perišić played the full 90 minutes in Inter’s 3-2 win over city rivals AC Milan in the Derby d’ Milano. Perišić assisted on Inter’s second goal to Icardi in the 63rd minute with his patented step over move and dribble to the goal line with a cross to the center of the box. With the win, Inter now have sole position of second place in Italy; two points behind leaders Napoli and three points ahead of Juventus.
Croatian fringe defender Ivan Strinić assisted in Sampdoria’s 3-1 win over Atalanta on Saturday. The 30 year-old former Hajduk player could be considered as extra-added support in defense leading up to the World Cup (if Croatia makes it) with a good season in Italy.
In England, Dejan Lovren played the full 90 minutes in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Anfield. United only managed one shot on goal and 38% possession in an uneventful match. With the draw, Liverpool sit two points behind a Champions League spot. Everton’s Nikola Vlašić got the start and played the full match in a 1-1 draw vs. Brighton. 20 year-old Vlašić was given a ‘7’ grade as he was “Everton’s best player with his movement, control and vision. A threat.”
The English have been big on Vlašić. His future will be bright in England if he can start producing in the next 18 months.
never rated subasic highly. average international keeper. nothing special at all. I never like quiet keepers. you need authority. keeper must own the defense. (think schmeichel)either that or be a quiet, slightly crazy, cat who just pulls off great saves because he enjoy it.(think higuita) subasic is neither…
good comment BZ about perisic trying to do everything world class first time. needs to calm down and stop trying to be perfect, just be effective. in my own experience of playing, the games where you set out to score a hattrick usually end in disappointment, I always found that if just tried to concentrate on my touch, making the right movements, working hard, linking well with teammates then the goals and assists would come naturally. but then I wasn’t playing for inter milan and Croatia I admit
Truth Troll back to his 3rd grade name calling again. Go troll elsewhere you ass
Truth Troll predicts anything might happen = accurate prediction no matter what happens.
Was his classic self today vs Milan….hope we don’t have a Rakitic on our hands
Soul-Someone needs to yell “time” at Perisic. He keeps going full volley/bicycle/one timing it, when he can carry, lay it off, Or draw a pk.
Love him, but I agree with Idemo, overdue.
Learn to not make accurate predictions?
Learn to not speak the truth?
Never
I am here to teach. Not to learn.
Oh truth troll will you ever learn?
over due*
T-36 hours till playoff draw!
Perišić is due for a World class performance for us.
Let’s not get too excited about ante re bitch again after he finally scores a goal or two
I remember after the world cup when most here thought he was going to be our automatic starter going forward. Oops
As for Marko pee ass a aka rebitch 2.0., Chances are he will never be the same athletically. His career might be done before he was even able to get good
Mr. Black ya vlasic good and only going to get better. Wait till Moro shows up in prime time he better i think by a bit. @idemo i think you right. Its all mental now though. I remember i broke my wrist when i was young and it took me a while to get confidence in it even though doctor said its 100%. I hope he good. One of my favourite players.
@stipe
idk if I remember correctly, but I think it was Juve doctors that treated Semi Khedira for a similar injury and he ended up great for them
Vlasic one of the best player for Everton today. He played 90 minutes in their 1-1 against Brighton.
His player rating:
Nikola Vlasic 7
Very bright during the early stages and caused havoc whenever in possession down the right. Offered rare width and a change of pace, but needs longer studs given he twice slipped when in encouraging positions.
Stipe i think so. Had the best doctors in italy working on him and with him. I could be wrong. But i would bet yes.
Does anyone here think that Pjaca is going to be the same player when he comes off the injury report? Bc I remember he had a really bad knee injury. I hope he didn’t lose a step or he mentally can’t get past it. Therefore he might play timid. Which can be really dangerous.
Perisic with a great assist in the Milan derby.
Perisic Nice asist
Ya cigan. Strinic actually looked pretty good watch highlights on Italian tv. Maybe worth another shot.
Strinic played the full match and got an assist on the second goal. fast forward to 1:40

@dannyj
Good for Kovac for turning that team around
I would always have Tin Jedvaj in because he can play RB and CB, I like his versatility.
Great LAknat named the following squad for the playoff matches

Defenders: Dejan Lovren (Liverpool/ENG), Domagoj Vida (Dynamo Kiev/UKR), Ivan Strinic (Sampdoria/ITA), Sime Vrsaljko (Atletico Madrid/ESP), Vedran Corluka( Lokomotiv Moskow/RUS), Matej Mitrovic (Besiktas/TUR), Duje Caleta-Car (Salzburg/AUT)

……..D Vida…………Corluka…………Lovren………
….Rakitic…………Milan Badelj………….Vrsaljko….
………..Ante Rabic…Modric…Mandzukic………….
…………………………Kramaric………………………….
Rebic deserves another chance not necessarily a start
His shot is sure dangerous
Don’t question a Cigans methods. He has black magic
Ya I think rebic deserves another start
How bout kovac turned frankfurt into legit competitive team. Maybe they get some time in Europa or even champions league
Who comes back as coach first bilic or kovac?;)
Rebic is a no brainer. Like I said before the playoffs, there are several players he should replace. I even went so far as to say he should be ahead of Brozo on the depth chart, and I stand by that statement. (Brozo def gonna score tomorrow now that I said that.)
@Cigan-where the hell did you get those dates? Awesome find if accurate!
I know Rebić has had his ups and many downs.
But with Pjaca months away from any sort of match fitness, much less form.
Halilovic ill timed severe ankle injury.
We need some dynamic power and speed in the final third to open up a little space for Modrić to weave his magic.
I say give the kid another chance.
Universe is spinning our way !
Watched Cilic v Nadal btw, he lost 7-5, 7-6 but definitely had his chances
For sure maminjo!
Rebić’s first goal that was called back was awesome.
We need someone like him off the bench.
Speed, power with an awesome shot.
Soul agreed. But sometimes in form leaves. Hope it doesn’t. Long way to go bro!
Only Kalinic will be ready to come off the IR to make a difference.
Ante REBIĆ …. SPREMNI !
The kid is on fire to start the season.
Yup def no tap in there
Do u guys think rebic has warranted some sub time??
Ya for sure iggy. Hopefully dude gets rolling just in time!
Very nice goal from Rebic there
I wouldn’t expect Pjaca to play in the play offs
So basically at full throttle other than kovacic and halilovic? Thats ok though if everything goes well with the other fellas.
Excellent work cigan! Thanks!
Expected Returns form Injury:
Kalinic- Oct 15
Corluka- Oct 22
Pjaca- Oct 29
Brozovic- Oct 30
Jedvaj- Nov 6
Kovacic- Nov 14
Halilovic- Dec 18
Agreed maminjo!
Not only did Rebic get the game winner (volley from like 20 yards), but he had a really great game, he even scored another goal but they called it off, here are the highlights…
http://footyroom.com/matches/79942304/hannover-96-vs-eintracht-frankfurt/review
Rebic looks to be getting his career back on track
Let’s hope he keeps going. A strong kid who won’t get pushed around out there
rebic game winner
Vlašić, Tudor, Strinić, Brekalo, and Rebić need to be called up next month.
Hopefully Jedvaj and Pjaca come back from injury soon too.
We need more depth at the fullback and wings. We can’t rely on someone like Pivarić as our first sub off the bench, nor expect Brozović to play out of position for entire games.
We have loads of unused talent. Time to use it.
https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2017/10/5/16427230/marko-pjaca-juventus-training
Well there ya go this is positive
Will he be ready next month for us is the question??
Nice to see though
Ya would be crazy if he started to start fir them
We could have both starting wingers from juve
I think kovacic should be getting close nuff to returning but will he be in game shape
Didn’t pjaca go under the knife again
I bet he is like new year type thing. Sounds scary this long. I know the knee is a complicated joint. It’s scary cause he relies on his athleticism for sure
I think corluka is the one we most want back. Give us at stability back there and leadership. No clue when expected back I’ve asked on here but no answer. That shady Russian league:)
I forget the under 21 goalie name that has been talked bout
But do you guys see kalinic take the helm at some point before a more youthful goalie comes up?
I think only the leftist jugos don’t claim Hercegovci
I thought cilic was a hercegovac???? Or do you guys only claim hercegovci when it’s convinient?
Does anyone know what the latest injury updates are for Corluka, Kovacic and Pjaca?
The Players who should have in a cautioned list that probably will make trouble when they are going to play:
1) Pivaric
2) Perisic
3) Subasic
4) Rakitic
5) Vrsaljko
Remember -> LAknat always right!
@ BZ
Brekalo and Vlašić are both the goods.
They both need to be in the mix.
As we navigate the November to remember and punch our ticket to World Cup 2018, when need to have a squad filled out with young legs.
The reason we “shit the bed” after a game or two is that we usually run out with too many tired legs.
Spain 2016 was an example of young legs.
Portugal was an example of waiting too long to play them again.
Ages 20-25 need to fill out the squad.
Especially in the attacking areas.
Had a chance to watch a bit of Brekalo. Getting good experience at Stuttgart. He played well in their win today. Vlasic and Brekalo will be ready if Pjaca never gets back on his trajectory.
Nice on cilic. Let’s hope he can get another grand slam or two before he done
So did dalic sign and will carry on?
I was just reading his career. I know it’s Saudi Arabia but looks like he did quite well there. It’s not a major league but least he has won some
Also worked with blazevic when he started according to wiki
I still think he showed some nice tactics and makes me wonder what he could have done at euros
Let’s face it cacic really didn’t do us any huge favors at euro
But thank u for ure service let’s hope we found an ace up the sleeve
Iggy, Cilic is a good guy. But the man was born to choke
So… you’re saying he’s a Hrvat? I already know that haha. Although he didnt choke in US Open 2014.
I think that’s what makes HRV successes so great, we know we did it despite our mental frailty, which is especially laudable.
Iggy, Cilic is a good guy. But the man was born to choke.
Worth mentioning too Cilic is into the semis of Shanghai Masters vs Nadal and will now rise to nbr #4 in the world at the end of this tourney!
