Marko Pjaca scored a goal in his first career start for new club Schalke Sunday; currently on loan from Juventus. The 22 year-old cut the ball back quickly in the box in the 16th minute to get his defender to flinch and then fired away with his right foot to the far corner for the first goal of the match. Hannover would score late to force a 1-1 draw. With the point, Schalke sit tied for second place in Germany with three other clubs, but a great start for Pjaca getting on the board early.
Pjaca Goal
Real Madrid finally got a win, defeating Deportivo 7-1 Sunday night in the Spanish capital. Luka Modrić got the start and scored Real’s fourth goal with a sharp, one-timer from 20 yards out. It was the finesse we have all seen Modrić learn in his years with Real Madrid. Mateo Kovačić came on for Modrić in the 76th minute. Real Madrid remain 19 points behind leaders Barcelona.
Modrić scores from 20 yards out
Rakitić Goal
Ivan Rakitić and Barcelona keep on cruising in La Liga with another victory; this time a 5-0 win at Real Betis. Rakitić opened up the scoring in the 59th minute, taking a through-pass on the left flank and sliding it past the Betis goalie. Rakitić would later assist on Luis Suarez’s first goal of the game as well. With the win, Barca have an 11-point gap on second place Atletico Madrid.
Nikola Kalinić assisted on AC Milan’s 2-1 game winning goal and Marcelo Brozović helped save Inter Milan in a 1-1 draw against Roma, assisting on Matias Vecino’s 86th minute goal.
That was sarcasm, someone here was extremely sure about Pjaca playing at Juve
Idemo how do you know Pjaca was going to play ? They paid almost double for Bernedeschi and he’s Italian and apparently Pjaca wanted the move himself because he wasn’t sure how much time he was going to get.
Just curious on your thoughts.
Never forget; Pjaca did not need a loan move and was going to play for Juve
Fucking joke, thinks he knows what he’s speaking here
@slaven. Thats usually me in my Fifa manager mode
So Liverpool can beat the best team in the league then lose the next game to the worst. What a joke.
@chopper
he is out due to “illness”
@CroatianPerson85;
This current team has more talent than that 98 team but no where near the heart or fight. Guys like Stanic, Bilic, Jarni, Asanovic, Soldo, Boban and so on played with a passion and ferocity that has yet to be replicated. There have been periodic glimpses of it from guys like the Kovac brothers, Corluka at times, Srna and so on, but never across the board with an all out team effort, like the guys from 98 did.
What the 98 team didnt have, was the obvious, blatant corruption within the Savez and negativity that has drowned out generations to come. They had the backing of an entire nation (albeit small) fresh off a war, trying to make a name for themselves. Now, we have a vastly talented roster of 23 that make millions outside of Croatia where they indulge in world class facilities that dont flood at the sight of some rain, 49 weeks a year. They get called up to play for the repka and have to deal with the horrible conditions greed has created. Not making excuses, but the lack of desire at times is almost expected at this point.
We can only hope that come June, we are able to combine todays talent with some of that 98 fire. With a complete backing of a proud nation and a little luck, a great, deep run is right there for the taking.
Dani olmo will be the guy. Lol.
If we only had 1 out and out striker who could take people 1 v 1 and a CB that could hold it together.
Imagine if we had a Suker and Stimac/Bilic with this NT? Wishful thinking, you can’t have it all with a 4 mill population. We have to make do.
If our 98 team in their prime played today’s team in their prime who would win more games out of 10?
It seems like our NT players assist or set up goals often but aside from this week, we don’t have a striker/player who scores on the regular. Mandza is a post up man for Juve and they like him. If he could get the service he got in Bayern (I know I know, he had Ribery and Robben crossing) we would score more goals.
I really hope Pjaca develops. He could be that guy.
Lovren not even on the teamsheet for pool vs Swansea.
kramaric is a good player, players and teams have ups and downs. its no big deal
@BZ
If you believe he had a great game against Werder then you’re a fanboy just seeing what you want to see.
So he got called out for being selfish and now he’s sooking it up Lol! If he did get called out for being selfish, what do you think of the way he’s responded to it?
Do you believe that Kramaric’s teamates should have taken his sensitivity into account when calling him selfish?
This is what’s really happened, Hoffenheim’s good players are gone (Sule, Rudy and Wagner) and Kramaric’s fragile ego has been rocked with the realisation that he’s a just a below average player at best and that Sule, Rudy and Wagner (his peers) are laughing at him sitting on the bench at Hoffenheim wondering where everyone’s gone while he is still there giving everything he’s got for a couple of goals this season.
But you believe he’s “stud” Lol!
Ante Budimir has four goals this season!
Is Budimir also a “stud”?
Beauty assist by Mandzukic just now.
looks like a lot our footballers were inspired by miocic, hopefully they keep it up from here to the WC
Andrej- Exactly the opposite. Ever since the Hoffenheim’s Midfielder (forgot his name, but the black guy) urged the coach to scold & bench Kramaric, Hoffenheim has been shit. Went from a CL position to 9th in the standings. If after benching Kramaric, Hoffenheim was kicking ass, I would say that was “not a good sign.”
Their demise is a great sign of Kramaric’s value.
Moral of the story, do not call out your best player for being marginally selfish.
@Kramaric sux- Well that settled it. I guess Kramaric sucks. I’ll take your anectdotal word for it.
Ya Kramaric has been coming off the bench a lot of late even with Wagner gone. Not a good sign when you can’t even start for Hoffenhiem.
Marko Pjaca back in effect ?
Legs look healed and motor ready !
His resurgence will provide a whole new dynamic to balance the field.
Dalić will find the best usage for him.
I hope he goes bananas for Schalke the rest of the way.
Kramaric a “stud”?
I watched him last week against Breman, he made an absolute fool of himself, missed a sitter (you just know he’ll miss sitters at the world cup and cost us), got in the way of his teamates, was tripping over his own feet whilst trying to dribble around players, this guy is shit, I’ve put a line through him.
Sule, Rudy and Wagner are at Bayern while a shit head like Kramaric can’t even start at Hoffenheim. Lol he is a laughing stock among his peers. Someone here also once said he had a big ego as well!
wow, let’s hope we get a fee of these Croatian Tsunami weekends this summer.
Brozovic assist for the tying goal with 5 min left.
Rakitic goal for Barca.
love that goal by Pjaca simple pseudo-cruyff then tuck it away. He had the composure to not blast it wide, so the goalie got a hapless hand on it. Always better to tuck it low and inside than to miss outside.
Kalinic drawing the penalty for the first and an assist for the winner.
Looking more & more a stud like Kramaric, Pjaca, Mandzukic, or even Kovacic will have to sit to accomodate a dud like Strinic at LB.
Happy for Pjaca.
Modric scored too, rare sighting.
Terrible news about krovinovic seemed to be having a pretty good season as a starter for Benfica. On the bright side Pjaca got his first goal for shalke today
@ anon; nice rumor, looks like happening in the summer? Still won’t make the WC roster.
krovinovic got an assist in the 13th minute and played the whole game, but apparently he suffered a ligament rupture
Krovinovic out for the rest the season.
Brekalo and vlasic are subbed off at HT..guess they didnt play well
Andrej – sweet catch on that Brekalo vs Rebic post.
I’ll do you one better…I am looking forward to Perisic’s Inter vs Coric’s Roma.
Rebic vs Brekalo is a sick game right now; http://www.vipbox.live/football/491904/1/wolfsburg-vs-eintracht-frankfurt-live-stream-online.html
