Croatia Handle Norway, Face World Champions France Next

January 20, 2018

hrvatska slavlje cindrić

The Croatian handball team handled business Saturday night in Zagreb, defeating Norway 32-28 in the second to last match of group stage. Anything but a victory would have saw Croatia fall short of a semifinal berth; where they still control their own destiny. The Cowboys have an off day Monday when France plays Serbia and Sweden plays Belarus. Croatian fans will be rooting for Serbia and Belarus results.

Then on Wednesday, Croatia will close out group stage against World Handball champions France, who may be undefeated in the tournament going into that match. Croatia would make the semifinals with a victory but could squeeze by with a different result if scores go their way on Monday.

During the Norway match, Croatia escaped a 2-man suspension in the second half to keep Norway at bay. (It’s the equivalent of a 5-on-3 power play in hockey.) They limited the Norwegians on goals and scored one themselves on an intercepted pass and fast break down the court. That was the dagger that Croatian needed as they never let Norway get close the rest of the way to keep their Euro handball dream alive.

    Important win for Croatia: 32-28

Great game by the Croats. Especially goalkeeper Stevanovic was impressive.

Zlatko Dalic watched the game alongside Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

Yah, Cilic has a real chance to make the QFs at least, it will be tough from then cos he’ll play Nadal though

Petra Martic is having a great tourney, but again, don’t expect her to win tbh

as for streams, they will be posted when it’s actually fight time, so relax dude :)

  3. Iggy Iggy says:

He really should’ve won that set

he’s overpowering this spanish cunt no worries

he’s up a break in the next set so order is restored

i really like the way Cilic is being aggressive, he’s playing powerfully and i like it, he’s gonna win this match as long as he keeps it up

Is it just me but I just cant seem to enjoy this sport at all? I’ve tried but it doesn’t do much for me. I love watching our national team play every football game, and our Tennis players too. But this handball and waterpolo just seems like a bunch of BS that nobody here even knows about in the UK.

@Dubrovcan they are talented athletes but they just chose the wrong sport. Should be playing basketball with all that height

Are the Karabatic brothers mixed Cro/Serb? Wikipedia says their father is Croatian and mother is Serbian but the website writes the names in Cyrillic. Is the father a Serb from Croatia maybe? Nikola is born in Serbia so my guess is he identifies as a Serb regardless of his father being born and raised in Cro. Just curious if his father is a Serb from Cro or not. I remember Balic would always mix it up with him.
