It has long been talked about that Borna Ćorić is the future of Croatian tennis. The 21 year-old Zagreb native is slated to be the next Novak Djokovic based on his style of play. Although Ćorić has yet to make it past the third round of any Grand Slam; his start to 2018 is shaping up well.
Ćorić won both his matches against Canada’s Vasek Pospisil and Denis Shapovalov in the first found of the Davis Cup last month to get Croatia to the next round; where they will host Kazakhstan April 6-8 in Varaždin.
Ćorić only has one title to his name; winning Morocco’s ATP 250 series tournament last year (a small tournament), but has already matched his career best at this year’s BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California. Outside of the four major Grand Slams, there are nine ATP Masters 1000 Series tournaments which hold weight for the rest of the season, and Indian Wells is one of them. Ćorić defeated #7 Kevin Anderson in the quarterfinals Thursday afternoon in a third set tiebreaker after already defeating #19 Albert Ramos Vinolas and #13 Roberto Bautista Agut both in straight sets in the second and third round, respectively. Ćorić will now be ranked top-30 in the world moving forward and will play Roger Federer in the semifinals. His highest career ranking was 33 in July of 2015.
Ćorić Highlights vs. Young
Marin Čilić, currently the #3 player in the world, underperformed at the BNP Paris Open, losing to German Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets in the 3rd Round. Coming off of Wimbledon and Australian Open Finals appearances, Čilić should be able to make another run at a Grand Slam title in 2018.
Split native Petra Martić lost in three sets to world #1 Simona Halep in the quarterfinals of the BNP Paris Open. At 27 years old, she has found a resurgence in her tennis career; making the fourth round of three Grand Slams in the past year.

As great as our cro tennis players are ..none of them have their own tv commercial displaying their popularity to the world like our super tough heat brother stipe from Cleveland Ohio USA. Fantastic promotion of cro heritage in the commercial he mentions the checkers.
