In their last friendly before the World Cup begins, Nigeria were defeated 1-0 by the Czech Republic with most of their “A” squad players taking part. With the loss, Nigeria are now winless in their past four friendlies, losing to Serbia, England and Czech Republic while drawing Congo. Their last win came on March 23rd in a 1-0 victory over Poland.
Nigeria have not been scoring much and the last time they tallied more than one goal in a game was January 28th; in a 2-1 extra time win over Angola.
Nigeria will be Croatia’s first opponent at the World Cup on June 16th. If the Vatreni can score first or get a two-goal lead at any point in the match, consider the game over. Croatia must grab all three points against Nigeria if they plan to get out of group stage safely.
Czech Goal & Match Highlights
I think Nigeria will do a back 5 and absorb pressure against Argentina which means they’ll need to attack against us and Iceland in order to move on. That being said, I’m happy that they may not park the bus against us. Keep it a midfield battle which we’ll always win and let’s hope we get some finishing. We just need to watch for the counters because they’re 3x as fast as us.
sorry to act like a know-it-all but what did I say would happen when we found out Nigeria is in our group…I said they can’t beat us…if they win its because we fucked up, not because they are too good!
Croatia will be robbed by Referee
you know what I’m saying?. Deal with this one,
They are a bunch of divers!
Worst Australian team in 20 years 4 – 0 Czech Rep
Czech Rep 1- 0 Nigeria
That tells me all the importnat info i need dudes
we are a SURE thing to win this game, 100% Iggy confirmation ! 😀
We’ve already heard from @Coach Crnkovic about the way Nigeria play,
“when nigeria beat argentina 4-2 they played with a back 5 and sat deep to absorb pressure before hitting on the counter. They didnt press or foul or try to physically intimidate argentina. It will be a tactical battle, which we should win.”
Czechs are a team that Nigeria might be expected to make more of the running against, a team they’re equal to, or perhaps even a little better than, but when Nigeria play Croatia the game will be played more to Nigeria’s liking.
It’s gonna be an interesting game against Nigeria. We’re gonna have more possession, but for Croatia that doesn’t mean we’re gonna score goals.
However, Nigeria is no Portugal either, they don’t have a Ronaldo for us to fear.
I can’t wait to see what happens!
Wouldn’t read too much into these recent results. Cro’s first match against Nigeria will still be tough, but obviously it’s better to play an out of form team then the opposite.
I’m interested in who Dalic puts as our starting striker or strikers. If it was me I’d put Kramar and Rebic up top against the Eagles.
The same Czech Rep that Aus just beat 4-0 ?
Fucking sweet!!!
That’s worse than any result we’ve had in forever
