Croatians all over the world celebrated Croatia’s second straight penalty win at the World Cup Saturday night! This is what it looked like from St. Anthony’s Croatian Catholic Church in Los Angeles. Over 1,000 fans showed up to cheer on their Vatreni for another 120 minutes and penalty kicks.

 

 

Stressful is putting the atmosphere lightly.

    We really need Perisic, Kramaric and Kovacic to step
    up. Kova has been really disappointing. At least Krama and Perisic have both found the back of the net but they need to find another gear. Perisic will be key for us..I really don’t understand subbing off Perisic the last few games. He’s been underwhelming but still is one of our best players.

    4-2-3-1 formation to continue letting Modric play higher has been our best lineup.

    I think it’s very unlikely that Vida is suspended, but he may be fined. The whole thing is ridiculous- FIFA should have stripped the WC from Russia for annexing Crimea and shooting down a commercial airliner, but they did nothing because they are one of the most corrupt organizations in the world.

    There was no reason for Vida to say that or even joke about it hes proven hes not the smartest player around. He scored a goal and took a good penalty but he could let down the team here if he gets suspended.

    Why do our players need to do these stupid things? Either way they will jeer vida every time he touches ball, like bilic after his France dive in 98. It will be annoying at a minimum. As to the Brit commentary, they are saying little we don’t say ourselves. However last night’s victory against a bunker defense home advantaged highly motivated team was far more impressive than people appreciate. And better luck to perisic or remove the dumb pivaric move and it would have been more decisive and impressive. We will rise to the occasion Wednesday. We are now a more fine tuned experienced team that knows what to do to win.

    Not only might be suspended but he arguably changed the entire atmosphere in Russia

    Russia was geared up to support Croatia going forward (remember nearly 70 percent of tickets held are still by Russians)

    These comments have inflamed them though

    Reports are now that There is nothing they want more than to see Croatia go home

    Reports that this will now be a home game for England

    And those wearing checkers on the streets of Moscow would proceed with caution

    Lots of comaparisons to 1998- not a good comparison- 1998 the boys played in Croatian small clubs or Germany- only Boban was a big name- even Croatian people were like-“ who is Davor Suker? This go around – big club players who have played in FA cup finals- won lots at the club level-

    I think we were lucky but who cares- lots of love from Canada- be proud of our great culture and smile because our parents sacrificed huge to bring our great nation to the other parts of the world- our traditions are alive and well in Canada- good luck to our boys- we can do it – God willing

    Kovacic needs to start.

    He has played well over the 5 games. Some matches better than others.

    England have Harry Kane and young legs over us.

    Need Kovacic to add speed to our first 11.

    Perisic can physically and tactically play LB .. it may be a stretch mentally but this is what is needed to win this thing.

    The rest of the teams have pace on the wings and LB is a place everyone seems to lunch on against us.

    The free world will be with us!

    I always love your positive energy brate moj!!!
    Who would you have Kovacic in for? He has disappointed me as I’ve expected much more given he should be more fresh than most of our players. Although I think now isn’t the time to try to experiment and have Perisic play LB….it could be a good option in a year or so. Strinic has actually played well (surprisingly)
    I think we need to play a very strategic counter game and give England the ball…hit with our speed on the wings with Perisic and Rebic who has been an absolute beast!

    I have to share with you guys probably the worst recap of a game I’ve ever read….it’s actually comical. This idiot (obviously biased) hasn’t a clue!! It makes me wonder what passes for journalism these days…

    For England I like Kovačić in as CDM.

    Kramaric is going to get dropped as even with his goal as Modrić and Rakitic suffer with him in the #10 hole.

    Kovačić will also provide support for Strinic if that’s what we have to go with.

    Plus he is a better initiator of offense out the back as he can both take the space and pass forward.

    England are coming out high tempo and we need to match their intensity.

    We cannot waste Modrić or Rakitic on tracking back.

    When Kovačić tires read the situation and either bring on Badelj or Brozovic.

    England has no idea what is coming on Wednesday. They have had BS group and a predictable Sweden.

    Just need Kovačić in their to complete the El Classico midfield.

    Vida at RB we may need more offensively out of LB.

    Not sure why Strinic looks so limited going forward?

    He has been solid defensively and sometimes he gets left out to dry.

    But I remember him smooth on the ball and whipping in crosses.

    Sampdoria benching down the stretch was not a good look before World Cup.

    We are going to need him now with Vrsaljko out.

    Ćorluka is ready and will play well against England.

    He is great on the ball and initiates attack at times.

    Kovačić definitely needs to start now as Vrsaljko was part of our core speed crew.
