Please be advised that I have personally given (Insert Name) permission to call in sick on July 11th, 2018 from work or school in order to watch the Croatia vs. England World Cup semifinal match.
While I acknowledge that the definition of “sick” is debatable, I have recommended that (Insert Name) spends the entire day with friends and family to emotionally prepare for the match, watch the match in its entirety and finally decompress from everything they have just witnessed.
If (Insert name) has work duties or testing this day, I request that you allow them to make those up another day because, as I’m sure you’re already aware of, July 11th will be a day that goes down in Croatian sports history. It was 20 years ago this summer that Croatia qualified for its first World Cup as an independent nation, ultimately taking third place behind Davor Šuker’s Golden Boot. The 2018 team is on the verge of topping that.
Of course, I also recommend that you take this day off as well, to witness the beautiful football Luka Modrić & Company have been displaying at this World Cup. Few sports can deliver moments like the World Cup does…I take that back, no other sporting event does. Please accept this letter in order to help your employee/student take part in Croatian history. (Insert Name) has my permission to call in sick.
If I can be of any further assistance in this matter, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
Ante Kvartuc
