Marko Pjaca Going To Fiorentina On Loan

August 7, 2018

Can Marko Pjaca reignite his promising career in Florence?

The 23 year-old Croatian winger is being loaned to Fiorentina from Juventus for the season, with a €20 million option to buy in the summer of 2019, Goal.com reports.

Pjaca injured his ACL in a Croatian friendly in 2017 which knocked him out for the season. He was loaned out to German club Schalke for the first half of 2018 but did not impress in limited time off the bench. Now is Pjaca’s time to earn a starting spot in Serie A and make a name for himself.

Sad injury that potentially cost us a World Cup title when you think about it.

This guy looked like a rising superstar two years ago at the Euros, and they loses all that explosiveness as a result of this injury. Just Imagine having this guy opposite Perisic on the right side.

    Oh well.

The silver lining that gives me hope is that Juventus included a first-to-buy option in this agreement…meaning that if Fiorentina does end up buying Pjaca, then Juventus gets priority to buy him back for 26 million Euro in the future (in case Pjaca ever does recover).

Juventus hasn’t fully given up on this kid.

    @‘Maminjo and Zee

Pjaca will be better than ever!

Olić got better after knee injury.

You heal, adjust and move forward.

Florence is special place to be.

Pjaca needs regular minutes to get his knee back to top form.

    Uvijek vjerni

  3. Maminjo says:

This type of injury takes YEARS to recover from.

It’s only been about a year and a half.

It took Alessandro del Piero like three years.

  4. BZ says:

@Maminjo- “Sad injury…cost us A WC title.” …or a blessing in disguise as Rebic was the perfect complement to Mandzukic’s high press. Had Pjaca not been injured Rebic might not have sniffed the field to display his class.

I was a big on Pjaca after Euros, but I also NEVER gave up on Rebic. Like I said b4 the World Cup, Rebic was better than Pjaca in the youth ranks, and Pre injury Pjaca never accomplished as much as Rebic on a non-domestic league club team.

  5. Dannyj says:

    Course pjaca has the talent
    Injuries don’t take that away

He has Youth on his side
I think long term he will be just fine

Remember many were tossing rebic to the side
Now he is worth pretty big bucks

Let’s just hope he gets to play and gets his groove back
Man remember a few years back we were so short on wingers

  6. BZ says:

No doubt Pjaca still solid, and can get back to his elite trajectory. Might take another surgery and PEDs, but he can do it. Let’s hope time heals though.

Good news: with Vlasic, Halilovic, and Brekalo behind Perisic & Rebic, we are fine without him if his injury lingers

  7. Maminjo says:

    @BZ

Yes, you are right about Rebic. He was huge for us this World Cup, but let’s not kid ourselves…Rebic is not as technically gifted or as much of a finisher as Pjaca was.

He missed quite a few chances for us in this World Cup. Luckily, none of those misses really cost us, and his power and tireless effort more than made up for it.

It doesn’t have to be an either-or scenario. We needed a trio of wingers, to give Perisic and Rebic a rest. Having a trio of these two plus a 100% fit Pjaca would have been amazing. We took out Perisic in the 60th minute of the Denmark and Russia games. We also needed some extra offense during the second half of the France game.

Imagine if we had ‘2016 Pjaca’ or ‘current form Rebic’ coming off the bench?

Oh well. Can’t dwell too much.

To your point about our wingers…you forgot Davor Lovren too. He will make some noise over the next two years in the Bundesliga and be an option for us as soon as the next tournament.

Perisic, Rebic, Pjaca, Brekalo, Vlasic, Halilovic, Davor Lovren, Fran Tudor…even Dani Olmo possibly.
We have tons of young wingers. We only need a few to pan out.

  8. Soul Champ says:

Mateo is about to blow up !!

Kante does all the defensive work and Kovačić takes the space and creates with Jorginho.

Sarri will turn him into a world class player in one season.

The EPL will go bananas over Kovačić.

  9. Mr. Black says:

I’ve seen Dani Olmo’s actions against Astana in the qualification round for the Champions League. The guy is amazing. Only Modric did better when he played for Dinamo Zagreb.

No doubt, Dani Olmo will end up playing for a team like Real, Liverpool, or PSG. He would be great for Croatia.

He lived for a few years in Zagreb, he talks Croatian, he even looks like a Croat. I’d say “make this happen”. I’d be totally okay with Olmo playing for Hrvatska.

  10. Razbijač says:

I didn’t see anything about an option to buy Kovacic, looks like this is strictly a one-year loan move. My fear is Chelsea doesn’t make him a starter–knowing they have to return him at the end of the season.

Besides Sarri already put ONE Hrvat in the Doghouse (Rog anyone?), so I wouldn’t be surprised if he puts another Hrvat in the Doghouse!

So I’m skeptical of this move since there is no option to buy.

  11. Dannyj says:

So are u guys ok with having olmo play for us cause he is white or cause he has assimilated
I’m ok with it if he is taken our country as home let him play

But will Spain come knocking now

  12. Soul Champ says:

Listen .. I love my man Robo Rog as he beasted Spain.

But comparing him to Kovačić ??

Kovačić can’t operate in small spaces ??

Problem is we are comparing him to Modrić .. who is the greatest player in the history of Croatia.

Sarri is going to maximize every atom of Kovačić potential as a footballer.

Chelsea are going to love him.

I am watching every Chelsea match the same way I watched Tottenham when Modrić arrived.

Kovačić has one year to cause a breakthrough in his game.

    Big things!!

  13. The truth says:

If olmo is to play for Croatia then the savez must act quickly and aggressively

Get him citizenship and call him up for league of nations nonsense

  14. The truth says:

You gotta wonder though in this past world cup run, would the atmosphere atmosphere have been as charming and electric amongst the players if naturalized Croats like eduardo, sammir l, sertic or olmo were on the team?

Would the celebration songs be sung with the same passion?

  15. Maminjo says:

    @Pog

You should know better than to call a Spaniard a “Latino”. They would take offense.

Speaking of which, I don’t even think Olmo considers himself a “Spaniard”. He and his dad are proud Catalan. Probably a reason why they would consider playing for Cro instead.

  16. Maminjo says:

Speaking of which, I don’t even think Olmo considers himself a “Spaniard”. He and his dad are proud Catalan. Probably a reason why they would consider playing for Cro instead.

  18. Maminjo says:

    Razbijač,
Chelsea know that it will eventually come down to what the player wants at the end of the loan deal. If he falls in love with Chelsea, nothing Madrid can do about it. Madrid will have no option than to negotiate.

  19. Maminjo says:

    Olmo is Catalan.
Probably why he wouldn’t hesitate to represent us instead of Spain.

I don’t mind one or two naturalized players…so long as they are REALLY REALLY good.

Bothers me to see us desperate to add random players to our team like Sammir and Sertic, when they wouldn’t move the needle at all for us.

  20. Dannyj says:

Will kovacic get that much more time at Chelsea?

I agree truth only Croats gonna sing those songs with passion

  21. Anonymous says:

    He should.

It will likely be a Kovacic, Jorginho, and Kante central midfield trio.

Bakayoko is a bust (who was purchased by the previous coach) and is being shipped out to Milan, and Loftus Cheek might be loaned out again.

The rest of their midfielders (Willian, Hazard, etc) are moreso wingers.

  22. Slaven says:

Schalke blows. I hope he kicks ass.

Subasic could have had a $20+ million contract if he didn’t suck so much in the final.

  23. BZ says:

Non-issue about Latino Homo Olmo guys. Not as good as Mr Black states. Don’t believe the hype. All our Croatian blooded wings would dominate Astana.

@Raz- great point about Kovacic loan without option, if true. Only way Kovacic plays full season as starter is if he plays undeniably well. First whiff of a failed season, Kovacic will see more bench than he did at Real.

  24. Razbijač says:

    @ Truth and Dannyj

I agree, the songs wouldn’t be sung with the same PASSION and FEELING…

It was memorable to see the players return to their hometowns’ to a hero’s welcome. With people dressed in the traditional garb of our ancestors, singing old folk songs. These Dočeci were a sight to behold!

Now for arguments sake, let’s say Olmo makes the squad, and Croatia makes another deep run in a Tournement….Where will Olmo’s Doček be??? Will it be in Catalonia? With Catalonian songs sung in celebration?
