Sportske Novosti has gazed into Zlatko Dalić’s crystal ball for November and is predicting that many of the current U-21’s – who just recently qualified for Euro 2019 – will not be on the squad for UEFA Nations League matches vs. Spain and England.
These are two huge games in which the Vatreni control their own destiny to top the group and move onto the semifinals in June of 2019. But at what cost?
This is the richest crop of Croatian youngsters the HNS has had in over 14 years. They need to be bread correctly and spend as much time as possible with the senior squad.
It has been reported that Josip Brekalo, Nikola Vlašić, Borna Sosa and Duje Ćaleta-Car may not make the cut for November call-ups, which would be an absolute shame, especially with Vlašić playing out of his mind for CSKA Moscow and Brekalo being in Wolfsburg’s staring XI this season.
If not now, when can Dalić bring these young guns up on a regular basis?
If these guys don’t get called up for Nations League matches, they surely won’t be in the Euro 2020 rotation.
Now is the time. Give these kids minutes. Let them struggle. It will only make them stronger quicker.
No apologies necessary..
Vlašić scoring should be mentioned on every post.
He is the closest thing we have to a legit number 10.
We lost our 9 in Mandžukić and never had a legit 10 as Luka the legend is our all universe 8.
You need a 10 to score goals and win football matches.
Vlašić is more relevant than ever.
Everton = govno.
Better see him in November busting up Spain and England.
Like he did against Real Madrid.
.
As I have stated before time will tell the Under 21 squad from 1999 and 2004 turned out to be mostly below average players who were no good.
@ Soul Champ – My apologies for apologizing.

Sorry for the repetitive post. Razbijac already made note of Vlasic’s goal.
Vlasic scored today vs Anzhi Machachkalakalakak in a 2-0 win.
@Maminjo – Great post regarding giving Sosa, Vlasic, Brekalo a run. Couldn’t agree more.

Well there’s another article out there that literally contradicts the Sportske Novosti article
I hope Sosa, brekalo, Vlasic, and Caleta-Car at least make the squad and get some minutes!!
I’d hate to think that the “magarac brigade”: Pivaric, Livaja, and cop plays ahead of them. ‘Cause right now Vlasic is in the form of his career! He scored a nice goal today.
Our senior squad is playing like crap, but there are gaping weak spots at LB and up top.
Replacing Pivarić with Sosa, and Santini/Livaja with Vlašić/Brekalo would be significant.
Wells then the senior squad needs to stop half assing which they are very good at. They can beat Spain and England now but need 110% effort.
The source is linked in the first two words of the article
@ Ante
Great article!
Dalić needs to find a happy medium for November between core veterans and the young talent.
All the matches over the last year have given ample opportunity to fringe players from all over the place.
Most have shown that they are not bringing added value to the level we need to be successful.
I see the elite youth infusion as a NOW necessity more than a building for the future.
Areas of immediate need:
RW – given Rebić deployed as a 9 striker.
10 role – to give attacking drive in final third.
LB – who knew Robert Jarni be harder to replace then the likes of Prosinečki?
Depth at Striker – not sure why we produce so few elite forwards?
Dalić has to see that the side looks stale.
source please?
