Dinamo Zagreb Top Europa League Group With 0-0 Draw In Turkey

November 28, 2018

Ademi

After a perfect 4-0 start to the Europa League season, Dinamo got the point they needed in Turkey Thursday night – in a scoreless draw – to top their Europa League group. That means they will be a seeded team at the Europa League Round of 32 draw.

No Croatian club has made it this far in what seems like an eternity. Hopefully the knockout round draw will be kind to the reigning Croatian champions. Depending on how the European season ends, Croatia may gain a Champions League qualifying spot in 2020.

Fingers crossed.

Awesome times for NT and Dinamo!

I still think Dinamo shoulda won the game against Fenerbache, the ref made a coupla bad calls.

Are we guaranteed to be seeded?

There are 12 groups in Europa with the top-2 teams moving on. The 8 eliminated Champions League teams who finish third in their group in the CL group stage are added to this total (bringing it to 32).

Even though Dinamo finish first, they are one of 12 teams in Europa that did this. If we assume that the 8 Champions League teams are seeded too, this brings the total to 20. There cannot be 20 seeded teams.

4 teams that finished first in Europa will remain unseeded.

Are Dinamo one of those teams?
