Episode 2 of Inside The Academy – the brainchild of MyPersonalFootballCoach’s Saul Isaksson-Hurst launched two weeks ago. In this episode, ex-Chelsea & Tottenham academy coach Saul travelled to Zagreb to explore the GNK Dinamo Zagreb academy scene.

The Dinamo Zagreb youth academy is arguably one of the best football academies in the world. Modrić, Eduardo, Lovren, Boban and Prosinečki were all products of Dinamo’s youth academy. So what’s the ‘secret sauce’ they have brewing in the Croatian capital? Is it pure talent or does the coaching dwarf all other academy formats out there? Let’s take a look in and see the work these kids – some as young as 8 – have to put in every day in Zagreb.

It’s not just the academy. It’s genetics.

Look at basketball. Zero infrastructure. Zero interest from the public. Zero basketball courts anywhere in Cro. Yet they currently have like five NBA players and quite a few professional Ballers in Europe’s best leagues.
