Luka Modrić got banged up against Sevilla on Saturday; having to play the majority of the match with a wrapped head after suffering a cut on his forehead. With Real Madrid up 1-0 in injury time, Modrić stole the ball from a Sevilla defender and and marched alone down field to score an insurance goal and cap off a 2-0 Real Madrid win. Although Los Blancos are suffering in La Liga – still 10 points behind leaders Barcelona – Modrić has been much more aggressive offensively and it has shown on the stat sheet. There are lots of rumors of a possible transfer to Italy for Luka, but time will tell.
Modrić Steal & Goal
Ante Rebić scored the goal of the weekend in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-1 win over Freiburg on Saturday. In the 40th minute, Rebić danced around the top of the box before tagging a wonderful left-footed shot from 23 yards out. Rebić remains to play great football after an amazing World Cup run and it will be interesting to see which suitors come for him in the summer of 2019.
Rebić Wunder-Gol @ 0:22
Inter Milan squandered a great opportunity at three points as they played out a scoreless draw with Sassuolo on Saturday. Marcelo Brozović played the entire 90 minutes and was voted ‘Man of the Match’. Ivan Perišić also played the full game but could not find the back of the net while Šime Vrsaljko remained on the bench as an unused substitute. Inter Milan comfortably remain on third place in Serie A; 13 points behind leaders Juventus.
You can script a game winner but not the play. Everyone says Lynch should have ran it for Seattle Seahawks versus the Patriots but Seattle were lucky that Kearse made that incredible catch to be in that position thats why Wilson threw it and it got intercepted. The Fix is in Entertainment.
MODRIC WON THE BALON DOR CROATIA MADE WORLD CUP FINAL MODRIC ALSO WON GOLDEN BALL ALL A GREAT STORYLINE CHILD FROM WAR TORN COUNTRY LIKE WWE.
@Ivan…I have faith in Pašalić…he is improving game by game and gaining more playing time
Pašalić had two assists and almost bagged himself a goal today for Atalanta, another “forgotten” Croat having himself a pretty good season with a good team!
Just nice to see rebic come back
These are inspirational for the young guys who are on the bench
I guess we have to thank kovac some for him
He really gave him time while at Frankfurt
Could rebic go to a real big club in the next year or two??
Mono? You get that from kidding gypsy girls
We will see a number of forgotten croats developing into world-class players if they keep at it with the right attitude. Count on Pjaca and Rog to make it into central roles for the squad.
All this talk about ZU but don’t sleep on zizic. He has quietly had his best week in the big show.He is a plodder but has a decent mid range shot a good rebounder, and has some nice inside moves which remind me a bit of Dino radja for those who followed him back in the day.
It looks like we will have a log jam at center for the national team with these 2. ironically the same thing occurred with them at club level a few years back forcing Zu to go play in Serbia to get much needed P.T.
Zubac is constantly being mentioned in trade rumors lately but I think it would be a huge mistake for them to give up on him this early considering his work ethic and improved play from his rookie year.
Zubac is great.
17pts and 7 reb in only 21 minutes is excellent.
The only drawback is that he’s not a mobile big who can run the floor and guard the perimeter. That’s important in the modern NBA and the only reason why he won’t ever be a 36 minutes per game player making ever single All-Star game.
Offensively, he’s a high IQ center who can score in a variety of ways. He has a well developed arsenal.
Defensively, he rebounds and is a presence in the paint.
He just can’t go out and defend on the perimeter against a lot of these small ball centers who hit threes, which is a problem. So he will always be used in situational plays, especially when other teams have nobody to guard the type of player he is.
If he adds a three point shot, he can become a Marc Gasol clone. I wouldn’t be surprised if a team like Memphis threw him an offer sheet when he’s a free agent in a year from now.
@Dannyj
Rebic had mononucleosis which is extremely hard to recover from as an athlete. It ends a lot of careers. It ruined Mario Ancic and caused him to retire early. It ended the careers of a lot of other athletes.
The good thing about Croats is that they develop later. Guys like Rakitic, Petric, Dado Prso, the Kovac brothers, Rebic, etc didn’t really put it together until they were in their mid-20s. Even guys like Mandzo andModric got much at age 30 than they were in their mid-20s. Modric at 33 is actually A LOT better than Modric at 28, lol.
I think in the next three or four years, you will see a forgotten Croat (one of Pjaca, Kovacic, Pasalic, Halilovic, Rog, Coric) suddenly be an important player for our squad.
Lakers lost in OT but zubac played the whole 4th quarter and OT till he fouled out with like 16 points…he played amazing they didn’t stop talking about him hit like 8 huge free throws gi love him!!! Hahha
Remember when some thought rebic was lost??
Dude is legit
Hard to argue against it anymore
That’s why we can’t give up on the young Guys
Watched the Chelsea game today. Kova looked very avg but so did everyone else except for Hazard and Sideshow Bob. He rarely tries to get into the attacking third even on counters. I don’t get it. Even at the end of the 1st half he got the ball in the attacking third and could’ve dribbled at the defender 1v1 but choose to play an early through ball for WiIllian. It’s like he’s scared of going too far forward.
While on the other end, I saw that Brozo had an excellent game statistically.
Maybe Sevilla could’ve used Rog today. Curious to see if he leaves this transfer window. Pressure is on him with Vlasic playing so well this year.
Rebic has potential to explode into a world class striker!
I agree…same situation with Modrić…if the Real Madrid midfield has an off game, it’s all on Luka and not on Kroos or Casemiro…other nations are jealous of Croatia’s recent success
Watched the Liverpool game and Fabinho exposed for first 2 goals palace scored. He’s replacing Lovren and if that would have been Dejan the media would be all over his ass.
Barely a sniff of criticism for the Brazilian…the hate for poor dejan will never end though he does bring some of it on himself
Kovacic with another shit performance. Subbed after 60 minutes. Surprised they didn’t pull him earlier. Pretty sure id play every Chelsea midfielder before Id go with Kovacic. Absolutely no impact from him. As usual..

Luka picks defender’s pocket in injury time, goes in alone and scores!
2-0 final.
Modric in head-to-head collision and bloody. Playing now with bandaged head, 0-0 at the half.
