Perišić scores 1st goal for Bayern Munich

In his first start for Bayern Munich, Ivan Perišić scored off a header and assisted Benjamin Pavard in a 6-1 thumping of Mainz. Perišić played 67 minutes and scored off a back post header in the 54th minute. So far, so good for Perišić in Munich as he has been loaned out to the Bavarian giants on a season-long loan from Inter Milan. Bayern Munich currently sit in second place with seven points from their first three matches of the season.

Brekalo (7) scores for Wolfsburg

Josip Brekalo scored an absolute beauty of a goal on Saturday to force a 1-1 draw against Paderborn. With Wolfsburg down 1-0 in the 56th minute, Brekalo rifled in a shot from 19 yards out off a half-volley for the equalizer. Brekalo has always been aggressive in the final third of the field – but if the 21 year-old Croatian wunderkind can keep these kind of performances up – Croatian fans are in for a treat.

Brekalo Goal @ 1:30

Luka Modrić assisted on Gareth Bale’s second goal on Sunday with a simple pass to the outside in Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw against Villareal after returning from a red card suspension. Modrić came off the bench in the 68th minute to help Los Blanocs salvage a point. With the draw, Real Madrid only have five points through the first three matches of the season.

    @ BZ

Even funnier is that some folks will actually think you are being serious.

Going on 34 years of age I pray Luka can turn things around and make something of his career.

    @ Vuki

I love this young player update you are doing.

Luka Sučić playing in Austria is already ahead of the game.

All of our young talent should be developing in smaller leagues that are organized and have a financial incentive to promote youth into the first team.

See Perišić in Belgium as a young player developing as reference #1.

  2. CroatiaU14 says:

Both Brekalo and Perišić are starting today. Brekalo’s start is well deserved after last game’s performance.

@Soul Champ Sučić is the real deal. His technique is well beyond his young age. And the good thing is that he will only improve.

In my opinion he’s up there with Marin and Brekalo as our most exciting young star. I know it says this in the piece I wrote about him but he’s tall and that’s a huge plus. If he can become a strong header of the ball along with his outstanding skills he’d be a beast. Let’s just hope he lives up to his potential.

  3. vuki says:

It’s hilarious because I was watching Bayern ‘fans’ complain about Perisic on twitter all half and now they went silent.

  4. vuki says:

He’s gonna be really good for Bayern if you ask me. He doesn’t need to perform amazing every week for his team to win which takes the scoring pressure off of him. As well as the Bundesliga being a less defensive league than the Serie A, giving him more space to dribble and cross.

  5. Razbijač says:

Perisic will be even better for Bayern since he has better players around him. There was so much pressure on him at Inter to create and score, now he can share the burden with other players at Bayern.

I’m happy that he joined Bayern. After all, Bayern falls into the category of “Mega-Clubs.” When a player joins a club like Bayern, Barca, Real, Juve, and PSG they are guaranteed to fill up their trophy cabinet.

    And Brekalo scored to today!

  6. gbvh says:

are you trying to say people complain on twitter?
    shocker in gloomtown.

barca down 1-0 to osasuna, rakitic on bench.

  7. CroatiaU14 says:

Yesssss another good weekend so far. Brekalo is starting to really show himself at Wolfsburg. Hopefully today will give him a starting spot almost every weekend. Glad that Perišić scored too.

  8. Dannyj says:

The big boys should come calling for Brekalo soon nuff
Legit the gay thing may keep him off some teams
But you just do you Josip
    That was a bomb.

I still remember when Ziva was right and all we could get was tap ins
I can barely remember when I go watch a goal one of our boys score that’s a tap in these days

Our future is bright cause already our best up coming talent
Vlasic and Brekalo have shown the hunger to play for the repka

  9. Soul Champ says:

    @ CroatiaU14

Love the next generation energy you bring to the site.

I pray that all these boys are in clubs where they get to play.

    @ Svima

Brekalo has been the truth since 16 years of age.

He gets injured and the u21 crew implodes.

Vlašić is a beast with a whole different set of attributes then Brekalo.

Along with Rebić these two bring that hunger.

Brozovic at the 6 seems to be able to run for days and instill initiate offense and bang in a golasso now again.

Kovačić compliments everyone else well and god willing just be getting his balls back?!

If any of these teenagers make it then we once again be in striking distance.

  10. Soul Champ says:

Rakitic has traditionally come to us with tired legs serving Messi and Farca.

Maybe he will be in the mood to get a run out for Slovakia?

Rakitic is pure class and provides big time presence on the pitch.

Too bad he is stuck on Spanish culture.

Love to see him at new club creating the final chapter in a storied career.

  11. gbvh says:

For Canadians, FYI —– TSN has the Monday Croatia fixture listed as being on. Don’t see anything abut Friday.

  12. Soul Champ says:

I guess when you freeze your arse off growing up in Switzerland you fall in love with that Spanish sun.

It was a revelation watching him play top and bottom of a diamond mid as a captain of Sevilla.

    Barca is not for ever.

Xavi and Iniesta had to go.

    Jebi ga

Less minutes is better for us.

  13. The truth says:

One needs to put forth serious questions about rakitic place in the midfield going forward

Sure…. Play one old geezer in your midfield… Fine…. If he s good enough pulling the strings while the young horses run around and cover his back and do the dirty work…. Put two put old geezers in the middle and you’re asking for trouble

Best option is they’ll have to pick between modric and rakitic and we know the answer

The shame is if it forces rakitic retirement cause he is a good player and plenty of injuries happen

  14. Soul Champ says:

Rakitic is a full 2.5 years younger than Modrić.

He is 31 and Modrić turns 34 like next week.

Modrić has one more major in him.

Rakitic maybe has two if is up for it?

There is no way I kick Rakitic to the curb before his time.

His game is power and position sense, both of which age well.

Farca is just a different animal type club.

Croatia keeps stocking quick and speedy wingers then our world class midfield will always have enough space to create.

    Brozovic/Kovačić can cover for anyone.

    Plus Modrić still looks quick.

  15. Dannyj says:

    Agreed Modric looks quick
Rakitic May be younger but fuck Barca runs him like a crnac
But I don’t see why they both can’t still be in solid form for euro

    Like you guys say
We have young bucks that can run for them
    Perisic Rebic Brekalo Vlasic
I’m guessing if Kramaric doesn’t really keep the work rate going he is gonnna he out of a job

Hopefully Vrsaljko and then maybe benkovic can be good for us going forward

I kind of hoped Perisic would be in that LB role for inter…grooming him for maybe a couple years LB for us
U never know that still may happen

  16. Dannyj says:

Petkovic while maybe not fully capable of taking striker job
I feel like he is hungry for it

He has a nicer touch then mandzo but does he have that brawler attitude??

  17. CiganJeCigan says:

  18. Soul Champ says:

Perišić is too skilled to be a LB.

I know sometimes our beloved Splićan is not focused.

But that left foot assist on a dime and leaping header showed just but a few of skills in the attacking third.

Bayern and Kovač are going to be a good fit for him this year.

Just enough run to keep sharp for Euro 2020.

Perišić will thrive in Bundesliga flowing soccer and CL will provide big occasions to shine.

    Lewandoski > icardi.

  19. Dannyj says:

    To AC milan I saw??
Assuming he can’t play any European football then this year?

    Mandzo riding the bench hard
Needs to go somewhere to play or go to China and make some money

  20. Dannyj says:

    Nice article from rakitic
The part I don’t like and maybe they just do it to stay humble
They can’t talk bout World Cup run like so improbable

They need to know they can do it again
I know making the final is extremely difficult but I believe a future generation can do it again

We are due for the gold this time!!

  21. The truth says:

I did the math…. It took Croatia 4 years from forming their team to take bronze in 98. Then 5 times as much time to take silver. Which means in 100 years they’ll win gold… If course, there will be serious questions of if there will be Croatia in that time or if so, what will it consist of

  22. Dannyj says:

I doubt the world will be anywhere near as we know it
Climate change whether man made or not and someone gonna one day start nuking stuff
I believe the new kids while not being fueled directly by the war will go off their parents fuel
And also when u see that one pic of Brekalo waiting for the team to come back to Zagreb… if we can get another 10 guys with that passion and our typical Croatian talent we will be just fine

We still have enough guys left over with legs to play
What they lack in speed now they still have in skill and that wisdom and experience u can only gain with age

If the young kids can see how hard the older guys worked
It’s all just good stuff going forward

Maybe we will stink for a while but we will rise again as the cream always does so

  23. CroatiaU14 says:

Italian Football TV just posted something saying that the Rebić move to Milan is official and that he will arrive in Italy tomorrow for his medical. If that is true, I’m very happy with it. He deserves a move to a big club.

  24. Suba says:

If we keep on producing players like Perisic and Brekalo another final is not out the question

Croatia will last for eternity that’s how much passion we have for our homeland

We will exist in one form or another trust me

  25. Red star says:

Haha fools! Croatia is almost gone already!. You tried to win it with human rights violations and then you turn around and give it away through the ballot box! What idiots! You already gave your sovereignty away to Brussels and Berlin. Eventually Serbia will be in the eu. Free transit and migration between Serbia and Croatia. And soon Croatia will become Serb controlled again. Hahahaha. Not a bullet needs to be fired! They simply left the front door open!

  26. CroatiaU14 says:

Glad to see Modrić with an assist. Also glad to see Bale successful. Kinda felt bad that he wasn’t playing much

  27. Jamon Iberico says:

Juve is getting worse. They have no chance. Italian title..who gives a shit.

In Spain, the conditions are ripe for AM to take the title. Valverde and Zidane will deliver it to them on their knees. Who gives a shit anyway.

The state of Euro soccer is pathetic. There’s a missing generation to make it worth watching. It’s all has-been and washout players and coaches now. I’d rather watch tennis.

  28. Soul Champ says:

    Modrić still has his quicks!

    Bale is a beast.

Real Madrid press taking a crap on every thing he is not.

He has had a great career at Real Madrid.

I pray Boban can give Rebić the finishing touch training to become world class.

Kovač gave him a life line and now Boban can give him the master class mentoring.

    Rebić is BEAST.

    T-5 days to Slovakia showdown.

Seems like we have many hungry players to choose from.

Dalic has to have plan A-Z.

3 points are needed to put us in a position of power.

  29. Anonymous says:

@REDSTAR CHETNIK..YOU Gypsy WILL NOT WALK IN CRO FRONT DOOR ,YUR FUCKS WILL BE THROWN OUT YUR OWN BACK DOOR UNDER A BUS.YOU FUCKS GOVNO. last official census 2011. Serbia itself has been in demographic crisis since the early 1990’s with a death rate that still exceeds its birth rate. Serbia, along with Bulgaria, has one of the most negative population growth rates in the world, with one of the lowest fertility rates (just 1.44 children per woman). 1/5 of all households consist of just one person and Serbia has among the 10 oldest populations in the world. You chetniks seem hopeless!!!!

  30. vuki says:

Yeah Rebic is Milan is done, just not official until medicals. Here’s he is arriving in Italy:

Also, do we still want Jedvaj at RB for the upcoming qualifiers since he’s been playing CB at Augsburg? At least he’s playing consistently now. Or maybe Dalic is going to try to slot Brekalo there again? I hope not personally, against Azerbaijan he MIGHT be able to get away with it, but against Slovakia I think he could definitely get caught too far forward.

I’m optimistic about these two games, I think since the window is closing and Rebic is completing his transfer, there shouldn’t be a chance that he will be upset about anything. Rakitic not playing for Barcelona could either be good or bad for us, we’ll have to see how sharp he is. Slovakia is going to be a tough game, but IF our players are motivated, we will win. That’s a big if. We are absolutely capable of winning both of these games by 2 or 3 goals. Kramaric being out is going to hurt, but the pressing game should be good. We’ll just have to wait and see what version of our team comes to play.

  31. vuki says:

I think my lineup for Slovakia would be this though:

    GK: Livakovic
    LB: Barisic
    CB: Lovren
    CB: Vida
    RB: Jedvaj
    CM: Brozovic
    CM: Rakitic
    CAM: Modric
    LW: Perisic
    RW: Brekalo
    ST: Rebic

Vlasic is also an option at RW even though he’s better down the center, but Brekalo is in form. Sucks that Lovren hasn’t been playing. Modric’s red card was timed perfectly for us, he came back and played a few minutes today to stay sharp and got an assist. He’s ready. Against Azerbaijan I think I would go with what Cigan je Cigan posted as we should play more attacking against them since they will almost definitely sit back and counter.

  32. Soul Champ says:

    Perišić ————————-Modrić______________Brekalo

That is a complimentary Fab Four!

Each one is capable of putting a march winning performance.

If we can line up 7 guys behind them who can support these front four we are business.

  33. UBoj says:

No Kramaric, Rakitic or Kovacic? Not good for squad depth…easily the best lineup we can field up front now is this…

    Perisic. Vlasic. Brekalo
    Brozovic. Modric

  34. vuki says:

Well at least Rog has been playing consistently and can at least be a viable option. Now that both of them are out, I’m definitely saying go with Cigan je Cigan’s lineup for the matches. Vlasic > Pasalic and Rog. If it’s true that Rakitic didn’t join up because he’s just sulking about the club trying to use him in the Neymar deal and not playing him, then that’s pretty upsetting, but I’d rather have players that are fully focused on winning the match than just going through the motions like we have seen so many times.

  35. vuki says:

On another note, Halilovic looks to be joining Heerenveen in the Dutch league. They kind of revived Odegaard’s career so we’ll see. This is one of his last chances (he’s had so many). If this doesn’t work out he absolutely should go back to the HNL if he wants any chance of becoming a decent player for a decent team. My faith in him is pretty low after not even being able to have an impact in the U21 Euros where he is supposed to be one of the better players, let’s hope he can turn it around and at least become a depth player for us.

  36. Razbijač says:

Terrible what Barca are doing to Rakitic, he’s getting the rented mule treatment AFTER all his years of glorious service to the club…

…He’s now become a mere pawn in the Neymar transfer saga. If they’re honestly treating him this way, he’s gotta get the hell outta dodge….Juventus would be a good place to go…

  37. Razbijač says:

With Rakitic and Kovacic outta the picture, fear not folks! We still got plenty of FIREPOWER at our disposal:

    (4-2-3-1): Livakovic—Bartolec, Lovren, Vida, Barasic—Brozovic, Modric—Brekalo, Vlasic, Perisic—Rebic.

    Subs: Petkovic, Orsic, Pasalic

I say give Bartolec a run at RB, since it’s his natural position and he’s getting minutes at Copenhagen. I don’t want to see Jedvaj used as a stopgap solution, since he’s better fitted at CB.

  38. Maminjo says:

Rakitic is such a BETA male it makes me sick.

So…the rationale for not playing for Croatia in this CRITICAL road match against Slovakia is because he is focused on his club career with Barcelona?

So, Barca is jerking him around and he responds by devoting his time to prove his worth to them, instead of helping us get into the Euros?

He’s already done all he can in his career with Barcelona, with more devotion than any other player who has played for them in these past five years. He’s won everything possible with them, as a key starter and player (logging the most minutes) for them. If they still want to get rid of you as transfer filler for what they perceive as a more valuable player than you, then it’s time to move on.

If they keep jerking you around, do it right back to them. You focus on your national team, pace yourself (as you have already logged more career minutes than players do in their entire careers), and make a move in the next transfer window to a team that wants and needs you.

He should go to Milan and play with Boban, or just go back to Sevilla and close out his career there as a hero.

If we lose this game to Slovakia, I hope Luka sends him a big fuck you text. Completely deserves it.

  39. Slavonac from Canada says:

I agree with Maminjo, although we aren’t fully sure of the details.

Kinda sad Rakitic can’t show some leadership and loyalty to our checkers. Our National Team has offered him far more than Switzerland ever could and Barca have recently demonstrated some very piss poor attitude with how they’ve been treating him!

I’ve always hated Barca, this just makes things worse.

  40. Maminjo says:

The worst part is that Rakitic is jerking us around the same non-committal way Barcelona is jerking him around.

If you don’t want to focus on us, then retire from the National Team like Mandzo did.

Now, Dalic has to scramble to put together/analyze/review formations without Rakitic (only days before the game). He probably had this as a Plan C, but whatever, it still messes up your preparation.

Doesn’t help that Kovacic now got injured.
Thankfully we have a hungry Vlasic and Brekalo out there.

  41. Goku says:

He keeps doing this to us. I appreciate what he did for us at the WC but enough is enough. Stop being a little fuken beta b1tch rakitic.

How is him staying back going to help his barca situation at all?

No one is above the national team, no matter what you have done

  42. Goku says:

Rakitic blocked me on instagram back during WC qualifers when he bailed on Cro i spammed his comments calling him Raquel’s little dog and etc

  43. CroatiaU14 says:

Rebić is officially on AC Milan. He is going to wear the number 18 jersey which is cool. Tough loss for Frankfurt but Rebić deserves the move to a bigger club. Can’t wait to see him in action.

  44. The truth says:

Might be a blessing in the end. I think rakitic would still be great for depth but part of me thinks a hungrier young n might be better off starting

Funny how both Croatia fans stoned rakitic house
And barca ultras showed up to his house angrily after champions league loss last year after he went to a fair in sevilla the day after they lost

I kind of get his move. I’m ok with it. He’s gotta get his club situation sorted. A rakitic who’s not playing top tier football for the next nine months is no good to Croatia anyway. If he gets hurt, all his potential to transfer to a desirable location go out the window. Plus, maybe he knows injury will be on the mind while playing so best off not going out there and playing if you’re not hundred percent

  45. Mudrac says:

    Most likley 11 vs slovačka
Livakovic Jedvaj Lovren Vida Barisic Modric Brozovic Perisic Vlašić Brekalo Rebić. Man we have fallen alot of playera are bench and havent turened out to be quality we dont have a rb and true number 9. Need to start fresh euro 2020 we wont do too well need to build for 2022. Sunjic Katic Peric Bradaric Moro Majer maybe others that will turn to players. A healthy croatia for euro 2020 Livakovic Vrsaljko Lovren Vida Bradaric. Modric Brozovic Rakitic Perisic Kramaric Rebic. Thats the safe lineup i think vlasic brekalo deserve a 11 spot

  46. Dannyj says:

    Who knows what’s going on
    But like you guys say
Show your shit for the Repka
He has nothing more to give to Barca
It’s just the world of soccer
Heck the world as we know it
Once you realize this and adjust you will be happy

Even he said xavi and Iniesta didn’t finish there
    So screw it.
Don’t be groveling over the chick u lost Get better and get a new one

But ya his wife totally puts the dildo on

  47. Dannyj says:

Truth did say we can only have one geezer playing in midfield
    I guess luka it is
I don’t think luka would punk out in the same situation

  48. The truth says:

    Katarina mamic named miss Croatia!?

    Corruption all over this!

She might be ready in a could years, but there are so many pagaenteers better than her right now!

Theyre probably just trying to Jack up her price so they can sell her off to a bigger pageant like miss universe

  49. vuki says:

Kulenovic joined Dinamo. Good for him. Similar level to Polish league and now can play in the CL if necessary. I wasn’t impressed in the 2 games I watched him against Rangers in the Europa League qualifying. Hope he can do something good for them.

  50. Maminjo says:

His Euro U21 highlights look good.

He plays like a more “playmaking” version of Mandžukić.

Pressures opposing defenders, Comes back to get the ball, good with his head… But seems to pass very well in the opponent’s third.

  51. CroatiaU14 says:

@vuki yess I like that move for him. I mean, he had a very good 18-19 season but hasn’t impressed so far this season.

He’s a star in the making. He’s tall, can hold up the ball, and is an incredible arial threat but he needs to just work on his pace and agility a little more. I can’t wait to see him play Dinamo. Imagine a lineup with him, Marin, Ivanušec, Majer, and Moro. That’d be a dream lineup to watch for me haha.

  52. CroatiaU14 says:

And also as Vuki mentioned earlier, Halilović’s loan move to Heerenveen is official.

Sad truth is, it doesn’t even bring me any excitement or hope. I feel like his chances of reviving his career are extremely low to nothing.

  53. Crnkovic says:

I don’t like this dildo talk. My ex girlfriend
Used to insist on wearing one. I never liked
    The sensation.

  55. . .Crnkovic says:

  56. . .Crnkovic says:

@anon. There is no such thing as a Croatian “exactly” nothing is exact in this world. Only the fantasies of post Aristotelian philosophers, archaic Newtonian scientists and desperate loners looking for an identity. The world has multicultural for nearly six thousand years. People have been mixing and matching since then. Yet culture provides a platform for inspiraton, cohesion and triumph over adversity. So dont give up

Fuck the Serbs, fuck the English. As a wise bad blue boy once told me and my Irish best friend. At old Trafford after Croatia Vs Germany in 96. Metaphorically obviously. Love wins. God is love. 62. . .Crnkovic says:

  63. Anonymous says:

Look at “Crnkovic’s” typical two-faced anti-white comments, he says “it’s not cool to hate” then says “fuck the serbs and fuck the english”.

Then he talks about how awesome negroes are. Meanwhile every single one of their countries is a third world hell hole without even ONE exception that would prove the rule anyway.

And his excuse for assimilating white people out of existence is “the world has been mixing for 6 thousand years”. Meanwhile back on planet earth, blacks have 50 countries all to themselves, Orientals have all of Asia for themselves. Blacks and Asians have never even THOUGHT of letting the rest of world have their countries. Black nationalism and Asian nationalism is a FACT. But this dickhead anti-white wants to give white countries to THIRD WORLDERS.
