Vlašić celebrates his goal vs. Zenit

Nikola Vlašić scored the lone goal for CSKA Moscow Saturday in a 1-1 draw against 1st-place Zenit St. Petersburg. Vlašić muscled through the Zenit defense as the ball pinballed in the air; eventually sending a left-footed shot to the back of the net. Vlašić has been solid at CSKA this season and his value is only growing. At 22 years old, the Croatian attack is in good hands with Vlašić aboard.

Niko Kovač

Bayern Munich have sacked Niko Kovač as manager after Saturday’s embarrassing 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt, the club announced on Sunday.

“The performance of our team in recent weeks and the results have shown us that there was need for action. [Bayern club president] Uli Hoeness, [sporting director] Hasan Salihamidzic and I had an open and serious conversation with Niko on this basis on Sunday with the consensual result that Niko is no longer coach of FC Bayern,” Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a club statement.

The former Croatian captain and manager won the 2019 Bundesliga and DFB Pokal titles as manager of Bayern Munich in his 20 months at the helm. With a generation of Bayern players leaving in the summer – Ribery and Robben – it was always going to be a rebuilding process for the young Kovač. Kovač should find another managerial job in Germany or Austria this summer. At his exit, Bayern are only four points behind leaders Borussia Moenchengladbach this season.

Dejan Lovren played the full 90 minutes in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday. The win keeps Liverpool six points ahead of Man City going into their clash next weekend. This was Lovren’s second start in Premiership fixtures and it looks as if he has earned his way back into the Starting XI.

I know we have a special generation but there has to be man for man more players and quality, funding, better training and course huge motivation
I don’t see us taking another 20 years to make another deepish run
Question is will we have a special player like luka before then?

  2. Iggy Iggy says:

Haha Peter Krpan quoted in that article. I mean if only a couple of those players turn out to be as good as he was in his heyday, we’ll be world champs in no time! ;)

  3. Razbijač says:

For all those following Dario Melnjak’s career, he got the full 90 in Rizepor’s 2-0 loss to Galatasaray. Rizepor currently sit in 14th place–just 2 places above relegation….

Wait a second! Why is this guy called up instead of Bradaric, who plays for Lille in Ligue 1 and Champions league to boot??? Especially with Bradaric being young and likely the starting LB in the future..

  4. vuki says:

Ante, I had downloaded it as an html file, but I can’t figure out how to get the pictures to also download. I just googled it and I’m gonna try publishing it to the web which I think allows you to embed it to web sites. I’ll probably test it out. If you wanna contact me, you know how to get my email. I can probably work it out with you easier that way than posting back on forth on here.

  5. vuki says:

I actually literally just figured it out haha. I just created a random wix site to test it. I’m not sure what you use for this site, but I can help you out if you email me.

  6. Maminjo says:

    @Razbijač

It’s because we played that friendly in Varaždin.

If we never played it there, Meljnak would have never been called up, and we would have someone else on the roster instead.

  7. Maminjo says:

But yea, Bradarić being the starting LB for third placed Lille is VERY good for us.

It’s also nice that we have Borna Sosa starting again for Stuttgart.,and we still have a very solid Barišić playing for Rangers.

Dalić seems to be the type who is a people pleaser, and wants to make everybody happy.

He doesn’t call up Sosa or Bradarić, because he doesn’t want to take them away from the U21 team.

He insists on playing all around Croatia, instead of just one or two stadiums.

He also loved calling up local heros to the national team, to satisfy the crowd.

Hopefully, it doesn’t bite him in the ass.

  8. Suba says:

Remember when Croatia couldn’t find a left back after Jarni now we are taking about 5 to 6 left backs

We have come a long way in football development spoilt for riches

By the way has Strinic retired what’s his status

  9. Suba says:

Yeah the trio of Boksic Boban and Jarni were my personal favourites

They were truly world class especially when they were all firing for their respective Serie A clubs

    Ahhh sweet memories

  10. gbvh says:

Barca go up 1-0 at Levante and lose 3-1. Shot of Rakitic on the bench late —– looking quite forlorn. Hope he giggled a little inside, at least.

  11. BZ says:

Did Brekalo break his slump today? Peob won’t start after gis lackluster performance in the 6-1 theottling mid-week.

Did Rakitic put Barcelona over the top? Hope he starts as they’ve looked like shit without him.

Did Perisic lead Bayern to the victory? They’ve sucked for Bayern, relatively speaking. Perisic is a must start.

Surely Vlasic will be solid for CSKA so I won’t even ask the question.

  12. CroatiaU14 says:

BZ funny you say that, Vlašić scored today in CSKA’s 1-1 tie vs Zenit St. Petersburg. The thing I like about Vlašić is that he is so consistent. Brekalo, I find, can go on a super hot streak then go cold for a few games. Vlašić is putting up real solid numbers this year with 5 goals and 3 assists in 14 league games and he has 40% goal participation which is outstanding.

  13. Razbijač says:

    @ Maminjo

I too hope it doesn’t bite him in the arse!

Dalic’s insistence on playing local-town heroes in places Croatia plays in, amounts to affirmative action—“Selo Style.” I agree, he’s doing this to foster a positive relationship with the fans.

Because you have to remember, a coupla years back their were a group of disgruntled fans causing all sorts of problems. Dalic doesn’t want to return to those days, so he’s trying to create a feel-good atmosphere around the Repka. He probably wants to make the games more kid and family friendly, less hooliganism.

  14. Maminjo says:

I get what Dalic is doing, but he’s stepping outside his job scope.

He’s the coach first, second and third.

..and he should be calling up the “best available players” to the squad, regardless of their age, town of birth or whatever.

  15. Suba says:

Vlasic may be more consistent in a weaker league but Brekalo has way more potential to the point where he could be Croatia’s greatest ever player

Anyway both are the goods and our future

  16. CroatiaU14 says:

Kovačić played OUTSTANDING today. Unlucky to not have had an assist or two. He had an 8.1 match rating.

  17. Razbijač says:

    @ Maminjo

While I too get what Dalic’s is up too, but it’s really the HNS’s responsibility to create a positive vibe between the fans and repka.

The repka should also be treated like a club team, the best available must be selected to the squad and the most in-form should start.

Based on current form and who’s available I go with vs Slovakia:

    (4-3-3) Livakovic–Jedvaj, D. Peric, Caleta-Car, Barisic–Modric, Brozovic, Vlasic–Kramaric, Petko, Orsic

  18. Maminjo says:

    @Razbijac

Four new guys into the starting eleven would be very risky.

Peric, Caleta-Car, Orsic and Kramaric (on the wing) would be a big change.

You’d also get limited pressing with Krama and Petkovic playing at the same time.

Peric and Caleta-Car are very big defenders (which is good) but I’m always worried about having two large centerbacks who might get beat by a speedy forward.

This is why I hope that Benkovic gets loaned to Celtic and gets back to form.

He’s the ideal CB. He’s pretty tall at 6’4″ AND he’s fast (so he won’t get beat by a quick striker or winger). Physically, he’s a taller version of Lovren, and without the mental gaffe.

I think he’d be great for us at the next Euros if he gets half a season of first team football under his belt until then.

  19. Razbijač says:

    @ Maminjo

“Four new guys into the starting eleven would be very risky.”

Well there nothin’ like a “Baptism of Fire” eh?

First off Caleta-Car and Kramaric wouldn’t be new to the starting line up. Just off the top of my head, Caleta-Car started at CB, and Kramaric started on the wing with Petko in the middle–against Azebijian in the Spring.

Petko’s and Krama’s pressing were just fine in that game. And Krama, playing on the wing, scored a goal in that match.

Slovakia have no one noteworthy in attack that a “Twin Peaks” pairing of Caleta-Car and Peric can’t handle.

I too hope Benkovic gets loaned out, he’s another guy we got in the Doghouse. And I agree he’s very talented.

  20. Maminjo says:

Benkovic’s situation at Leicester is very strange.

He is currently coached by Brendan Rodgers, who was his coach at Celtic and started him whenever he could last year. Benkovic did extremely well, and Rodgers even said that Benkovic is easily a starting-caliber CB in the EPL.

Fast forward a few months later, and Rodgers becomes Leicester head coach. Leicester sells Harry Maguire and Rodgers rejects Celtic’s request for a loan extension on Benkovic (so he can have him at Leicester for the season).

Benkovic was injured from the U21 Euros in the summer, and recovers from his injury…but Leicester having been playing extremely well and he has several defenders in front of him in the pecking order.

He’s sent to Leicester’s U23 team, plays a few games, but he’s even on the bench there at times too. Now, Leicester is looking to add a centerback in the January transfer window (as one of their veteran CBs and captain, Wes Morgan, may retire).

How does Benkovic suddenly fall out of favor so quickly without even being tested…to the point where they are looking for another CB in the transfer window?

This, especially from a coach who rated him so highly and refused to extend his loan deal just two months ago?

    Weird situation.

Celtic has been constantly pushing for another loan, and there is a new article every two weeks about Benkovic (as they are desperate to have him back).

Honestly, he needs to go where he’s wanted, and not stick it out with a bipolar Rodgers.

Vlasic was in a similar situation at Everton, and got out right away. Benkovic needs to do the exact same thing. Hopefully he goes to Celtic (or some other team), with an option to buy.

  21. gbvh says:

‘own goal’ pasalic. atalanta (now at just 10 men, ilicic red) down 1-0 at home v. cagliari at halftime. rog started for latter, has yellow card.

  22. Suba says:

Kovac is overrated in fact does not get the best out of players and players revolt by underperforming

Can’t see where next for him

  23. Anonymous says:

“Kovac is overrated in fact does not get the best out of players and players revolt by underperforming”

Players with big egos revolt against him.
At Eintracht he did a magnificent job, which led to him getting the job at Bayern.
Only a dickhead would think he coulda did more at Eintracht lol!

  24. Suba says:

Do you think he did a great job for Croatia

I tried not to say it but implied it

2014 was a complete shambles and Kovac was partly responsible in my view

  25. Anonymous says:

    @Suba

Who gives a shit about the job he did for Croatia, I don’t think you’re calling him overrated because of that lol, he was coaching the under 21’s when he got the Croatia job, he couldn’t of been overrated then.

My opinion is that Kovac hasn’t learnt the art of brown nosing, which gets him into trouble with the players with big egos. I believe he’s better off coaching a team with younger players at this stage.

  26. Soul Champ says:

Kovač didn’t get the best out of Frankfurt players?

Beats Bayern Munich in Cup Final.

Overrated Jovic goes to Real Madrid?

Hallier big money move to EPL?

Rebić was on the scrap heap when Kovac found him?

He is not a mastermind offensive players coach.

2014 was a steep learning curve for him.

He needs to learn how to deal with veteran players.

But Bayern Munich is called Hollywood for a reason.

He won the double last year.

It was a good move from him.

Trust me there are many clubs in Europe that could use his coaching to cultivate young talent to reach their potential.

The real question is what happens with Perišić?

Who is really going to want him?

He needs to figure out the final chapter in his career?

Can’t go back to Inter. Bayern interim or new coach may or may not be interested in him?

He is too good to have this dilemma in his career?

    Mourinho to Bayern?

He likes Perišić and he can come in and win the Champions League with them this year.

Then he can be the special one again.

  27. Anonymous says:

“He needs to learn how to deal with veteran players.”

Exactly, one piece of advice I’d give him is to stop being a metrosexual that’s acting like an alpha male, your players aren’t buying that shit and eventually get sick of it.

It couldn’t hurt to start dressing like Jurgen Klopp.

  28. Maminjo says:

It sounds like Kovač’s “strict German father” approach was the result of his firing at Bayern, just as it was in our National Team.

His approach is probably better suited to U21 national teams or teams that have younger, less established players like Eintracht Frankfurt.

Teams with older, more established players won’t listen to Kovač yelling at them to ‘not speak’ to each other during practice or reprimand them for wearing flip-flops in their hotel rooms.

These things might work on 19 year-old kids, but you can’t really discipline a bunch of 32 year-old veteran players in the same way.

I don’t think Kovač should ever be coaching teams with established star players like our National Team and definitely not a team like Bayern.

He should probably coach a relegation Bundesliga team or go back to Austria (where he lives) and coach there.

  29. BZ says:

Kovac had an eye for talent, remember when he chose Eduardo and Sammir to WC 14. He saw something none of us saw, turns out everybody else, but him, was right.

That is something I cannot forgive him for. I seriously think we looked better under Cacic at Euro 16.

    Good points:
Bayern did win 2 trophies under him, whenthe previous coach only 1.
Frankfurt was solid under his reign, winning a German cup.
He did back Rebic at wc14 and Frankfurt.

  30. Dannyj says:

Had a dream that we lost 2-1 to Slovakia this time
On top of the 3-1 loss dream a couple weeks back

Geez I hope im wrong and am the mayor of wrongville
It was 1-1 till about last ten mins
It was so clear it made me sick

  31. Dannyj says:

    If Dalić left
Of the former coaches we had, would u pick?

Doesn’t seem like most would choose Kovac

I guess Bilic would be our only choice

I do think Bjelica as a new coach would be interesting to see if it came down to needing a new one

  32. Maminjo says:

    @BZ

Cacic was better than Kovac at picking the starting eleven.

Cacic wasn’t really a coach. He didn’t play any strategic formations, nor did he ever even make any real substitutions.
He was just a guy who went with the consensus (like many fans or media do when they pick their lineups and post them online).

Most people agreed with his starting eleven, and they did relatively well because they were generally the best eleven players.

The problem with him was he didn’t know how to adjust when things aren’t going your way. The Portugal game was a perfect example, when we were faced with a physical Portugal and a ref that was swallowing his whistle.

Kovac is a good disciplinarian. He gets young players to work hard and run. That’s about it. However, this doesn’t work well on players who are older, experienced and generally do not require any discipline from their coach (i.e. Modric).

We saw how poorly Kovac was at picking starting eleven players, and his random formations (where Pranjic played a key role in our defence and midfield at WC2014).
He was very poor at that World Cup, and he eventually lost the players during the next qualification cycle (similar to how he lost his Bayern players today).

Neither one of Cacic and Kovac were good enough to be National Team coach.
Both were light years ahead of Stimac (who seems to have the weaknesses of all our coaches combined)…but both of them still sucked.

Dalic is good enough, and I am looking forward to Nenad Bjelica in the next cycle.

(We all know this is gonna happen)

    :)

Someone already put up that article by Tomislav Sunic.

    I enjoyed reading it!

In fact I would consider most of the people on this site as “Croats by default.”

  34. Crnkovic says:

interesting the article posted above is from “israelnationalnews”. also interesting to note how poorly written it is, both in terms of it’s scholastic accuracy and literary acumen. The guy uses the word ‘anthropological’ 3 times, each time wrongly. the word has no meaning in the context he uses it. usually, people worth listening to can construct a logical argument and a salient observation, using the correct language. standards please

  36. Anonymous says:

    @Crnkovic

What do you think of Tomislav Sunic being critical of Judeo-Christian monotheism and linking it to the rise of liberalism and communism?

You know that Jews and communists don’t believe that Jesus Christ is God, nor do the Mohammedans for that matter, so the Catholic God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) is not the same as the God of the Mohammedans and Jews.

I believe he’s onto something there, what do you think Mohammedan antichrist?

  37. The Real Deal says:

    @Crnkovic

“Communism, as a social anthropology preaching egalitarianism, society without borders, multiculturalism, and eternal economic progress, had already come to fruition in a more insidious and more elegant way in the West. Even in comparison to famed communist repression in Eastern Europe, its Western counterpart had taken on far more sophisticated features, of course under another garb and by using different signifiers such as “antifascism”, “multiculturalism”, “diversity”, etc.”

In anthropology, society connotes a group of people linked through a sustained interaction, i.e. communists. … Members typically share a common culture or at least a recognized set of norms, values, and symbolism that defines the society’s members.

How would you have wrote it?

  38. Anonymous says:

All you need to know about communism, i.e. Liberals in a hurry, is that it is the FIRST and ONLY system in human history that has always required militarized borders to keep people from escaping it – which is PRISON. No other totalitarian system ever did such a thing.

Didn’t that muppet libtard @Crnkovic once say “there is no more communists”?

Lol, muppet @Crnkovic has a go at Tomislav Sunic’s writing style just to try and discredit everything he said without actually attacking anything he said.

I just saw a clip of cetnik Vucic and his buddy Milorad Dodik in Drvar, you wouldn’t believe it, they were remembering the aggressive Serbian “victims” that died for the greater Serbia vision.

Serbs are fucking perverse, those muppets would call a rapist that got killed during his attack a victim.

Remember, there was no Serbian victims during the Yugoslav civil war, there was only Croatian victims.

This isn’t complicated, you can’t claim to be loyal to Croatians and be an anti-white at the same time BECAUSE CROATIANS ARE WHITE.

  61. Anonymous says:

@Anonymous of Nov 4, 8:49pm, I already told you: the “diversity” and “multiculturalism” you’re against is ONLY aimed at White countries, so OF COURSE it’s racial. Jesus Christ! How can “diversity” and “multiculturalism” not be racial?!

And I’m not “conservative when it comes to race”, what fucking planet are you on? Name just ONE conservative who is explicitly pro-white?

And exactly what have I said that makes you think I’m liberal in any way?

  62. Anonymous says:

@”Crnkovic” , what is the difference between your fake name and anonymous? You say the fact that all brown countries are poor has nothing to do with them being brown but you claim to be an honest Christian who says “fuck Serbs” and “fuck the English” right? And how can you possibly claim to be loyal to Croatians when you are CLEARLY an anti-white? I know you’ll keep lying thru your teeth no matter how much you keep getting exposed because that’s what dishonest people and psychopaths do.

  63. Anonymous says:

“Crnkovic” said: “as for immigration. i hope you are not an american talking about the survival of the white race. standing on the graves of the native american genocide. seriously. mind boggling”

You see, this anti-white just justified White GENOCIDE. And now you’re going to tell me “there is no GENOCIDE”??

Worse, this is horseshit mommy professor anti-white history. First of all, ALL nations existing today were taken from someone else. Second, when whites got to America, only one million Indians occupied 3 million square miles, but these anti-whites say “whites aren’t having enough babies” to justify pouring the whole world ONLY into white countries. SEE THE HYPOCRISY? Third, these anti-whites don’t care that White people suffered more and a lot longer from the same diseases they cry about the Indians suffering from. Fourth, these anti-whites say it was okay for Indians to massacre white immigrants and mutilate their bodies but when White people establish a nation we have to let in the whole world and be “tolerant” and “assimilate” with them and become brown. FUCKING TWO FACED ANTI-WHITE FAGGOTS.

    @Pro white guy

Henceforth I’ll have a username, make it easier for ya to respond.

Anyway, I’m not anti-white lol, but I’m not anti-black, arab, asian, red or latino either. I’m a white Catholic Croat, my whole family are white Catholic Croats.
But if some white Catholic Croat married a latino Catholic I wouldn’t have a problem with that, but I feel you’d call that person anti-white, am I right?

But, would you call a white Catholic Croat marrying a white Mohammedan anti-white? No you wouldn’t, and why is that? Because when it comes to faith/ideas you’re a liberal like @Elvis is, and @Crnkovic claims to be, am I wrong?

Now, what you gotta understand is that you can’t be loyal to the majority white Catholic Croats if you’re an antichrist.

“How can “diversity” and “multiculturalism” not be racial?!”

    Culture –
the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.
the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society.

“Cultures spring from religions; ultimately the vital force which maintains any culture is its philosophy, its attitude toward the universe; the decay of a religion involves the decay of the culture corresponding to it – we see that most clearly in the breakdown of Christendom today. The bad work begun at the Reformation is bearing its final fruit in the dissolution of our ancestral doctrines – the very structure of our society is dissolving.”
    – Hilaire Belloc

Do you understand what the Frenchman is saying?

Is Croatian (Catholics), Serbian (Krivoslavci) and English (Protestants) culture the same in your opinion? Lol, you sound like @Crnkovic who believes all the faiths in the world are true.

Lol, what is white culture in your opinion, explain it to the public please?

Like I said to you once already, and you didn’t dispute it, you are pro multiculturalism as long as it stays white.

    Are you even a Croat?

  65. Jebo vas Tito u guzicu says:

    @Tomas

How many Jews did he copulate with?

Also, @Elvis said his wife was asiatic.
Which one of you is telling the truth, so was she Jewish or asiatic, which one?

  66. Anonymous says:

    @Elvis

I don’t give a shit what Hitler was, all I know is that you said “race is more important,” and Hitler was white.

Lol, “Hitler was a lefty,” so in your opinion, is there anything wrong with being a white lefty? Are you an anti-white two faced faggot?

Poglavnik Dr. Ante Pavelic was not a lefty.

  67. Jebo vas Tito u guzicu says:

    @Pro white guy

Watch from about 30mins they talk about the migrant crisis in Croatia and how scared the white Croats are lol!

    https://youtu.be/z9Gb2PsUMMI

    Very interesting episode!

I still remember when @Elvis was defending Kolinda to me a while back lol! @Elvis must support anti-white two faced faggot Plenkovic, because Kolinda is his candidate!

So @Pro white guy, are there any anti-whites in Croatia’s ruling class, if so who are they, educate us, that is if you know anything about Croatia?
    Do you even understand Croatian?

Many times you’ve called people on this site (people you don’t even know lol) “anti-white two faced faggots,” but you’ve never called Kolinda anti-white, you’ve never called Plenkovic anti-white, why is that lol?

Lol, like you expect the commentators on this site to do something about the migrant crisis in Croatia.

Also, poor Valentina, wait till you hear what the Mohammedans did her vikendica lol!

@Elvis, @Pro white guy, time for you guys to start watching some Croatian shows ya muppets, maybe then you can educate the public on who the anti-white two faced faggots in Croatia’s ruling class are.
