Croatia Beats Greece, Will Face Spain In European Water Polo Semis

January 20, 2020

Barakude

After a perfect group stage at the 2020 European water polo championships in Hungary – where the Barracudas defeated  Germany 17-9, Montenegro 11-10, and Slovakia 16-4 – Croatia received a direct bye into the quarterfinal round, which will be played Wednesday in Budapest. Croatia will face Greece, who defeated Romania 14-7 in the playoff round.

Should Croatia get by the Greeks, it could set up a semifinal date with Serbia on Friday. Serbia – who are the reigning European champions – play Spain in their quarterfinal.

In the past two weeks, Croatia has beat Serbia in handball at Euro 2020 and the Croatian women’s water polo team beat Serbia at the European championships. Could we make it the good old fashioned trifecta later this week?

I wish there wasn’t so many waterpolo tournaments in a year. It diminishes the value of each of these tournaments.

Just have a World Cup and a Euro Cup, each of them every four years (plus Olympics).

  2. crnkovic says:

    @ Iggy

Water Polo can be a werid sport. I heard a dirty tactic the Greek team likes to use is to jab their thumbs up another players ass.
Do you think the guys pee in the pool to?

  3. Iggy Iggy says:

Also in good news Cilic beat that annoying French cunt who pops his collar and acts like a cunting Frenchman. Always nice to beat annoying French fucks too i have to say : ). We’ve been on a pretty good run lately in terms of smashing annoying wankers :).

  4. Iggy Iggy says:

Yeah i saw that! Haha he’s amazing! Could be playing the Masters tour with the other oldies but is still winning on the ATP tour!

    Vekic also knocked Sharapova out

  5. Maminjo says:

Funny how Vekic suddenly became this rising tennis star, when she wasn’t even a top-3 prospect in Croatia a few years ago.

Konjuh was a rising superstar, but too bad she can seem to remain injury free. She’s like the Marko Pjaca of tennis.

  6. Maminjo says:

Speaking of Pjaca, it looks like the Cagliari loan spell is gathering steam.

€1.5m for the loan spell, plus an option to buy for a further €12m

  7. Black man says:

Vekic was the second brightest female prospect in Croatian tennis right after Konjuh.
Too bad Ana is still injured and seeking treatment… hopefully she’ll get better and only time will tell.
