Bogdanović Season Done With Wrist Injury

May 19, 2020

We still have no idea when the NBA will resume, but one thing is certain, Bojan Bogdanović’s season is done, ESPN reports.

It’s a bit odd that Bogdanović now chose to book his wrist surgery. He injured himself in January, played at less than 100% for two months, and the NBA was suspended in mid-March. With no immediate return in sight due to COVID-19, why didn’t ‘Babo’ get surgery in March for a possible playoff return later in 2020?

He averaged 20 points per game for the Utah Jazz this season as they currently sit in fourth place in the Western Conference.

    Bizarre hey

    Poor Jazz.

This is a team that no NBA player ever wants to sign with, are generally very cash-sensitive, and they still do a remarkable job of building a winner (possibly even a contender).

    – Signing Bojan was a genius move.
    – Not re-signing Rubio and opting to trade for Conley instead was a good move (despite Conley having an off year)
    – Trading for Donovan Mitchell was excellent.
    – Retaining guys like Gobert, Ingles (despite losing Hayward) was critical.
    – Even trading for Clarkson mid-year was a great move, along with getting cheap useful players to round out the roster in O’Neale and Ed Davis.

They have a high IQ team with multiple players who can create and are great passers.

They are financially sound too, by going ‘all in’ over these two years (signing Bojan and trading for Conley) before having to pay Mitchell (and extend Gobert).

This keeps them out of the luxury for too long, preventing them from paying the repeater tax.

A nice contender run for two seasons (with saavy vets like Bojan, Conley, and Ingles), then they go back to building around Mitchell and Gobert (without having to pay the tax).

All of that is pretty much out the window thanks to COVID and now this Bojan surgery (and any beef between Gobert and Mitchell…assuming this beef is not all media fabricated).

I’ll tell you why he didn’t get the surgery in mid-march:

    1)Elective surgeries were not allowed
2)Nobody knew the full scope of Covid-19, cause the WHO and China had been so deceitful.
3)He probably wanted to see if it would heal with rest during the lockdown, clearly it didn’t.

Bojan was just being smart. Now that we have more real data, he is making the move, a smart move, as who knows what the NBA is going to do anyway.

I reckon bball might be one of the last sports to resume too

Aren’t the Olympic qualifiers later on this year?

Supposedly the NBA stars were going to be available for those games in Split.

Niko, I don’t think there’s much that Trump actually knows. He’s guessing everyday mate.

    @ BZ

Even if his surgery was allowed the last place he’d wanna be is at a hospital in the last couple of months, possibly exposing himself to Covid. Overall, with the other points you mentioned, the guy was being smart.
