Lovren & Liverpool Officially Crowned English Premiership Champions

June 25, 2020

Dejan Lovren and Liverpool are officially Premier League champions after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Manchester City Thursday night. Lovren is the first Croatian to win a top-flight English title even though he didn’t star for the Reds regualrly during the 2019-20 season.

Nonetheless, Lovren has had quite the run recently:

2018: World Cup Finalist
2019: Champions League Winner
2020: English Premiership Winner

Not too shabby.

With Lovren winning in England, Perišić in Germany, and either Modrić or Rakitić taking the La Liga crown in Spain; a Croatian will lift the domestic league trophy in three out of the top four leagues in Europe this year. #CroatianThings

Liverpool won in spite of bonehead Lovren

    Now that’s an achievement

Congratulations to Liverpool well deserved and about time too

  2. Anonymous says:

Would be better if the winner label was reversed from finalist to winner for 2018 though

  3. Pero says:

I pray lovren just hides in the bushes during the celebrations when they present the trophy.
He will look like an ass if he’s front and center holding the silver ware like he was a major cog in the championship.
Then again he does love the limelight.

  4. Anonymous says:

Lovren has played well for Liverpool over the years and deserves any celebration he wants and will always be a Croatian legend for what he and Croatia achieved in the World Cup. So all you haters crawl back into your rat holes.

  5. Soul Champ says:

Lovren was part of the squad and that what being a champion is all about.

Be nice for him to take his money and silverware and be a starter some place else for the next chapter in his career.

Lovren is not perfect but he has Soul and does his best for his teammates.

Self hating Hrvati only believe in their own survival and attempt to scam their own people.

This leads to personal poverty consciousness.

Pan handling will never work to heal the narcissism that leads to being broke.

Croatians are champions all over the World because we know the difference that it makes for our people to prosper.

mali hrvati only think about themselves.

“Veliki Hrvati” are just mali hrvati that are fronting.

Lovren is a Pravi Hrvat, he is a champion!

PS – I know he wanted to play CDM and that’s why he subconsciously screws up at CB.

  6. Miloš Hvar says:

Lovren was an early piece in what Liverpool has now built. This championship isnt only for this season but is the fruits of previous labor as well. Lovren may not be as integral now but he was a dog for Klopp. Man he was a beast in the Europa Final. Lovren 100% deserves to celebrate as much as he wants

  7. Slavonac from Canada says:

some anti Lovren comments are quite revealing and demonstrate once again how stupid some people are. These comments bring me back to the Corluka days when every time our National Team was about to play an International game, some of the clowns on here would pipe up and blast him. It was the same shit, game after game. Corluka was too slow, even going back to when he first joined with the repka and yet that was the only damn thing some idiots could see…they didn’t ever comment on his composure, his positioning, his warrior attitude…it was his speed and everything else that was good about him was completely ignored.

Now the same retards are on about Lovren, a guy that did extremely well for Liverpool and for Croatia over the past 3-4 years and yet all of a sudden all the anti Lovren have issues with him winning something that most will never achieve.

We don’t have to like someone’s off field personality but for God’s sake, don’t comment on his soccer abilities if all you can do is criticize…he plays for Liverpool…thats MASSIVE and takes a special person to be able to raise his game to be at that level!

  8. Pero says:

So not being a fan of lovren makes one anti Croat?
This is a site based on opinion and if you disagree with my viewpoint that makes me an idiot?
Funny how you bring up Corluka I loved the way that guy played.
Slow as molasses but smart tough always in position and NEVER screwed up like lovren or tried hogging the line light!
Corluka never got beat for a goal then instantly pointed his finger at a team mate to deflect blame!
Lovren is a goof and Corluka was a class act!

  9. Poglavnik says:

Not a fan of Lovren either but I’ll never forget the way him and Vida slapped Kane around for 120 minutes in the semis. His best performance if you ask me.
Enjoy the parties Dejan. You deserve it.

  10. Poglavnik says:

Hey Slavonac can you go a post without using the R word? It really nullifies your commentary for me.

  11. Slavonac from Canada says:

    …Poglavnik…ok bro, sorry!

Pero, do you dislike Lovren for a bad performance with our National team? If so, when?

  12. Slavonac from Canada says:

‘I’ll accept I was being retarded calling people that, I won’t do it again!

  13. Pero says:

You know what really irks me about lovren …he wasn’t doing the job at home with Anita and his buddy had to take care of biz!!
Corluka never had those issues on or off the field!!

  14. Soul Champ says:

    @ Slavonac

We probably talked about this over the years.

I feel Lovren had the physical tools to be a CDM.

He loves to be aggressive and ball hawk and loves to run the ball forward with a direct pass or dribble.

He is athletic but a tad small to be a dominant CB as he gets punished in aerial duels.

My theory is he came back to Zagreb and those little phenom CM teased his technique and had to play defender.

Ćorluka never got beat for speed until maybe the end after multiple Achilles injuries.

    So composed on the ball.

  15. Iggy Iggy says:

I see Goran has covid also now, Cilic not so far, the farce continues.

Funny how Novak was having a massive whine about the US Open going ahead with some restrictions then proceeds to host a tourney with zero restrictions and infect himself and a bunch of others, lel

  16. Anonymous says:

Leave poor Dejan alone maybe he likes the taste of salty sticky cream.
Don’t take my word for it being salty I just heard that from the grapevine.

  17. Anonymous says:

Sorry there is something about Lovren just frankly irks people Croatian or not

By the way I didn’t like Corluka either and I am not anti Croatian

I hope in the future we start developing world class defenders hope that Gvardiol becomes one and that player from Wolfsburg

    Forget about Caleta car

Iggy of course Goran got Covid he’s been sucking Novak’s dick this whole time

  18. Anonymous says:

Your wife publicly emasculates and shames you and it’s in every paper.
    Then you take her back?
A fine line between love and utter madness!
If Dejan doesn’t have a weekly hall pass to even the score he’s an idiot!!

  19. Maminjo says:

I was never a Lovren fan.

His good physical tools to be an elite defender were always negated by the many brain farts he had on the field.

He’s been wildly inconsistent throughout his career, and was regularly made fun of during his time in Lyon and Liverpool by both pundits and fans.

However, he turned a corner in 2018, and put it all together at the perfect time.

He was good at the World Cup.

I just hope he stays good for a while longer and doesn’t go back to pre-2018 Lovren where he made regular gaffes for us.

  20. Jamon Iberico says:

Lovren is the man. I have never seen any other defender go into beast mode like Lovren has. By that I mean he has scored right after making a mistake that cost his team a goal. He did that a few times. Not even Ramos can match Lovren’s intensity.

  21. BZ says:

Brekalo and Kramaric with big games against Bayern and BoDo tomorrow. Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim battling for Europa play-in eligibility, while the other gets no european action.

Luckily for both, Bayern and BoDo have nothing left to play for.
I expect both to step up to the plate in crunch time. Who will be clutch?

  22. Soul Champ says:

    @ Poglavnik

Funny how they both do not want to play CB.

They both grew up in footballing nations where midfielders and forwards are so skilled and polished.

But both of them could be great CDM.

Lovren came through for us in 2018.

He is not world class but his heart and Soul needs to be honored and respected.

He should move some place to be able to start and write the next chapter of his career.

Go some place with great weather.

Jebi ga .. go find a place where they will let you play CDM.

    @ BZ

Yes, Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim are battling it out for final places in Europe.

Curious to see how Brekalo and Kramaric step up for their clubs in the business end.

  23. Anonymous says:

I guess he is now in front of Petkovic and can claim seniority too

It’s funny how he needs to pull his finger out when he needs too

  24. Ivane says:

Lovren last World Cup was solid for us. No one can say otherwise. He is a fighter like a Modric. Both of them war refugees. Lovren went through hell and look where he landed. Great story.

  25. Razbijač says:

And if Pjaca sticks around Juve after June 30th, he will likely win the championship with Juve. So that’s Hrvati winning all four major domestic league competitions! :)

If Juve win the championship, is Mandzukic entitled to a medal? since he was technically apart of the team for the 1st half of the season?

  26. Anonymous says:

What game did you watch Brekalo played well had some chances Bayern just too good today.

  27. BZ says:

Well I think Kramaric answered my question regarding “Who will be clutch?”

    Kramaric=clutch Brekalo=not so much

If I am Wolfsburg, I would have some serious questions about BoDo tanking at home. Neither BoDo nor Bayern had anything to play for, but BoDo losing 4-0 at home is fishy.

    Fun Facts:
Kramaric scored more goals today in 90 Bundesliga minutes than Brekalo did in over 1678 minutes this season.

Kramaric scored more goals today than Brekalo has ever scored in a single Bundesliga season (4 season sample size).

  28. Razbijač says:

BZ, why are you comparing Brekalo a winger against Kramaric a forward? Obviously Kramaric will have more goals.

Also, what’s so special about Brekalo anyway? He’s just a 21 year old prospect, he may pan out and he may not too. We have other prospects too you know. He hasn’t proven himself like Perisic.

  29. Maminjo says:

Kramarić is a striker, Brekalo is a winger
Kramarić is 29, Brekalo is 21
Kramarić is supposed to have been our starting striker, but still hasn’t solidified his position with the NT… Brekalo has made an impact in limited and inconsistent minutes off the bench
It won’t take Brekalo ’til the age of 29 to secure a starting spot on our National Team.

I like both players, but you can’t compare the two.

  30. Medo says:

Breks passes the eye test ..the kid is explosive good with both feet and has that fire in his belly. This season has been a disappointment but in 5 years my money is on him to be a stud!
That’s if i have any cash left…after donating most of it to marijan and that Dominican orphanage!

  31. Soul Champ says:

    Kramaric made a statement today.

He scores big goals in big matches.

He is a big time finisher.

4 goals in a match to send Hoffenheim to the Europa League.

Ukraine to fire us into World Cup.

    All world goal at Wembley.

This dude is in his prime and bangs in goals.

Dalić has to figure out how to maximize his goal scoring out put for us.

  32. Maminjo says:

Kramarić is our best finisher since Šuker.

This is what makes it so disappointing. That he’s already 29 and should have been our starter 4 or 5 years ago.

He’s a better pure striker than Mandžukić, and if he gave even half the effort that Mandžo did on the defensive end, the spot would have been his.

Now you have Petković possibly challenging his starting spot?

Krama needs to step up and take his spot back, and start to press and pass more.
Otherwise, he will be the most talented player to never start for our National Team.

  33. Razbijač says:

Without question, Kramaric is our most Lethal Striker–at club level–in the modern era. Even surpassing Suker!

    At Club Level:
Kramaric has a goals to games ratio of 49.6% (173/349).
Suker has a goals to games ratio of 45.5% (240/527).

However, Suker was more impressive at the national team level in terms of scoring. As he was able to distinguish himself as he was virtually guaranteed a starting spot in the 90s as Croatia at the time played with 2 strikers–plus Suker virtually had no competition with Boksic often injured and no one else near as good.

While Kramaric is playing for Croatia in an Era when the Vatreni often play with one striker, and he’s had to compete with the likes of Mandzukic–a great Center Forward in his own right. And NOW he has to deal with Petkovic for that lone striker spot.

  34. Anonymous says:

Eduardo was better finisher then even Suker if not for the injury Croatia would have a euro title now.

  35. Miloš Hvar says:

Krama is 29.. he is what he is at this point. He is not just going to become a presser and passer. Agree with Soul Champ that Dalic is the one that has to figure out a way to make it work
